Tail pipes cleaning

So, iv just gone out and bought some autosol and going to give my tail pipes on my pre facelift 2.5.
Before I go yanking things off, is it simply a case of giving them a bloody good pull. Any screws etc?

Post facelift trims just pull off, believe the pre facelift have a bolt underneath
 
Aha, yes I've since found the screw, I have an issue though, one just turns and turns and turns, the other won't budge!!! Help!

Clean them without taking them off :)

I'm guessing you have tried spraying WD-40? Sometimes tightening the screw slightly can actually help release it. As for the one that turns and turns sounds like a stripped thread - have you tried pulling that tip?

Machine monkey does some replacement tips, and his recommendation was to get a block of wood to the back of the tailpipe and simply knock it with a hammer !

I tried mine, but they wouldnt budge ! Thought i was gonna break the exhaust further up if i applied any more force ! Let me know how you get on...
 
Yep I quite fancy getting some MM tips. I havnt tried bashing them, but the screws just won't budge! One just turns and turns?top one is the one that turns lower on is the stuck one, now starting to do damage to the head.

Wrap the cloth around and pull from each side alternatively wipe wipe wipe :driving:
