Tail Light Indicator failure

Hi

Can anyone tell me, are the tail light units on the E89 universal throughout the different specs? For example I have a 23i on a 61 plate and my rear left indicator is failing, I can buy another unit from eBay and I think it is from a 20i and is a 65 plate. Would I be safe to purchase for mine?

Yes they are all the same, there have been about 12 updates to manufacture, original ones had 3 fixing bolts, the latest ones have only 2, you need to seal the redundant hole in the body with some waterproof tape, there’s also someone who does a repair service through eBay, apparently all the earlier designs all fail due to water ingress it’s only the latest revision that has apparently solved the problem (rev 12)
