Absolutely agree with you Chris, there is absolutely no decent stuff on the tv anymore. Especially on any BBC channel. Oh, apart from the 6.30 to 7.00 bit where they just broadcast a red screen with birds singin in the background. Err, so ive been told.

Your last remark seems that you do watch TV? indeed your avatar is TV character!

How can you comment on TV content if you don’t watch it?

Watching Top Gear the other night made me wonder (yet again) what value am I getting for my money? BBC highly over rated and out of touch these days in my very humble opinion.

Wait... people still watch that?

I see not paying the license as a protest against the TV tax.
My non payment is a mix of legitimately not using it, my disgust at the propagandistic bbc "news" during the Scottish Indy ref and as such a protest against its existence as a tax lol

You mean the bit where you're supposed to switch from the national HD channel to the local SD channel to get your local news?

Aaah, but no, that was when i WAS paying for it though. But well spotted mate. Err, you dont work for Capita do you? If you do it wasnt me, honest.

You’ll be pleased to know that a don’t work for them nor ever have!

I did work with a fella who didn’t have a TV set out of choice.
When we went on training courses, the evenings in bar were spent with his neck swivelled towards TVs on the wall all night!

Perhaps he did not like your company :poke:

Got the 1st more serious email today threatening me with "THE DEBT RECOVERY DEPT." if i don't make regular payments.

My mate has never had a license, I've known him 30+ years, he always gave his parents address when purchasing a TV. His aerial is in the loft, so no sign of a TV

You do live in a quaint, old-fashioned little world don't you Fred?!
Who has an aerial these days??
All the terrestrial transmissions in the UK were turned off yonks ago weren't they?

Analog transmissions were but Digital comes thro the aerial.
My daughter lives in an area of poor reception so she has to have an external aerial on a mast.
It looks crap - almost as bad as a Satellite dish!

Ah right. It's very different over here in Clogland.
No aerials but see the occasional dish, usually in sh!tty run-down areas and usually facing east. :o

Over here that would be Freesat - the version through the aerial is called Freeview (both have some HD channels too, assuming your device can receive Freesat HD and/or Freeview HD).

I have a dish and an aerial. My old Panasonic has a Freesat HD and Freeview HD tuner. I put up the dish because the aerial reception was flaky and and HD hadn't arrived for Freeview at the time. Both work now. The disk is in a discreet place so one cannot see it from the front of the house. I put it up myself. I don't do ladders anymore though. People fall off of them.

I have just fitted a high gain aerial Christopher, surely you have seen aerials in the old country when you visit :poke:

I'm all for sticking 2 fingers up at the system and respect anyone's right to protest or spend their money where they see fit.

What really pisses me off is people who won't pay, but continue to watch content that requires a licence, then gloating about it to those who pay their fair share. - It's no less than benefit scrounging tax-dodging IMO.

Many people get confused about what you do/don't need a TV licence for.

A licence is needed to:
  • watch or record programmes as they’re being shown on TV, on any channel
watch or stream programmes live on an online TV service (such as ITV Hub, All 4, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Now TV, Sky Go, etc.)
download or watch any BBC programmes on iPlayer.
On any device you use. Outside of that, fill your boots, save the £160 and stuff the BBC!

What is P*$$ing me off is the BBCs News 24 OTT coverage of the U.S. Election, all day, everyday, way too much

How many of us are interested in U.S. Politics

Tim.
