Hi all, just need to tell you about my recent trip to the Sytner Leicester body shop. I recently posted about my neighbor wiping out my n/s front wing on my zed well, ins. claim sorted and into the body shop she went for a week :(

Eventually got the call to pick up my zed :) Needless to say the day really dragged, couldn't wait to get my girl back. So after work shot round to Sytners to collect, picked up my complimentary cappuccino 8) and stood and waited, after 10 mins
i see her coming out, she looked absolutely fantastic, gleaming, and looked brand new. Well i just stood and stared, the man said, "your keys sir" without taking the keys i just said "BEAUTIFUL" and he said "yes it is a beautiful car sir"

Took the keys said my thankyou's and got in. The interior was immaculate! they really did a fantastic valet on her :D

Started her up and, the dreaded airbag light was on! :x (surely they had noticed, i thought) So got straight out and called the man back. "No problem sir, i will have our techs sort it for you" so back in she went. After around a hour he brought her back, he gets out shaking his head! "they cant find a fault sir, so can't clear the light for you!" So what are you going to do about it? i asked. "We will have to book it in for a day, are you sure the light wasn't on when you brought it in, because nobody has reported a light on to me sir. But we will phone you with a time and an estimate for the work"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To cut out the slight anger i displayed at this point, i just wanted to let you all know that now i have the dreaded airbag light on and yet to receive the call.

But all in all i feel quite privileged to have got away with a big expensive "FREEBY!" from my local stealer!! :headbang:

Assume that there was no inkling of a problem when you took the car in and therefore its something the garage has done,
Could be a number of things from battery being disconnected to seat sensor failing, but whatever it is, its hard to believe that the dealer cannot define the fault and fix it.
There is a lot of discussion on the forum on this topic and I've had the problem, but my local indie. very quickly diagnosed the cause. Good luck, they'll sort it out.

hi ekimj, there was no lights on at all, its cost me quite a lot of dosh to sort all my sensor probs since i bought my zed :( Its a troublesome E85 2.0i but its now my p&j :)

chances are it was probably done while cleaning around the passenger seat, i've read through a vast amount of posts about the safety buckle sensor/ passenger occupancy mat and so on.... (oh dear! i hope not  )

I have a spare passenger occupancy bypass sensor somewhere, but DISv57 should find fault, bring it round and I will plug laptop in.

Just got back from Neil's (mac27040) where he did an amazing job of coding my zed for me and i just want to say what a top bloke and a real gent. and THANKYOU.

He as also got an amazing Supercharged zed, its a fantastic motor mate and a credit to you, you know your stuff. looking forward to the next meet. :)

No problem, had to recode twice as the fault Tug found was the cable under the drivers seat had a broken wire, this was fixed with seat out. Had to recut thread to back bolts on runners!! But a job well done, finally coded his car remove airbag light, flashing indicators on lock and unlock + beeps, lock after 2 mins if no doors opened, roof closure from key fob.

first class job. over the moon for what you have done for me today mate, a really MASSIVE THANKYOU

I was fortunate enough to get a broken window regulator and a check engine light from BMW Chiswick when they had my car. I refused to accept it back until they fixed the problems. After making a loud fuss in their showroom they asked me to leave quietly and in exchange replaced a lambda sensor and the window regulator for nothing.
That was the last time I used a BMW dealer for anything...

Forum power at its best..

Main dealers have a lot to answer for , looking at the fault it was probably a coincidence or a rough arse valeter that was the cause..
But to say they can find an easy fault is ridiculous... They just want you out of the place with no fuss.

Is it just me that think BMW as a brand have dropped in quality significantly over the last 5-8 yrs? Shoddy dealers and poor build quality in the cars ?

There is no exclusivity in owning a BMW anymore..

To add to this i am still waiting for the call back from Sytner to give me a time and "estimate!!!!!" :o of how much they will charge me for rectifying their f****ng mistake!

If it was'nt for the generous and excellent help i got from who i consider to be a great mate here on the forum i would have been left out in the cold with my p&j unable to pass an mot! :x

Its a shame that these stealers only employ fitters and accountants. I reckon that if one of these fitters should all of a sudden blurt out " I THINK I COULD REPAIR THIS! INSTEAD OF CHARGING THE CUSTOMER ALL THAT MONEY FOR A NEW PART LET ME SORT IT FOR THEM" He would be immediately shackled, bound and gagged then shipped off to Bavaria for an intense re-training course!

Big thanks again Neil

Having used the sytners in leic in the past i didnt rate them at all... But the fact they havent called you still for a fault they created is appalling ... I would get on to bmw cs and complain.

But a massive thumbsup to Neil. Top bloke... When i had an electrical problem with my car due to my Gaptech he offered then to help me too.... Really is a brilliant lad.
