While driving the Engine to a call this afternoon, I reached for the shift knob as I attempted to depress the clutch - my partner got a good chuckle out of it! Just wondering how many other people drive different vehicles and forget they're not in their Z's when they're at work :P . Our Squad 25 also has a 5-speed tranny in it :dizzy: ,

So does he/she drive the vehicle, or just help out? ;) (sorry, bad joke there!)

I know exactly what you mean, I'm the same when I drive other peoples cars, especially those with automatic transmissions! I don't often drive other cars, and have never driven anything quite as big as that monster, but I can say that I am always glad to get back in the Zed :D

Nice pic!

My wife just LOVES it when I do the "double brake maneuver" in her auto.....

I step on the brake, then step on it double hard when my left foot pushes down on what I thought was the clutch.

That's the easiest way to give her a headache. :o

Rick, lol! I know what you mean. When I drive my mom's Mazda she just laughs and calls me a goof when I use my left foot on the imaginary clutch pedal  .
I do love driving different vehicles, molds you into a well-rounded driver and keeps things exciting. I especially love driving Engine 21, pictured here, it's my favorite piece of apparatus :sweetheart: .
Now I know why rich folks have so many vehicles - it's just too damn fun :driving: !

Whenever I drive my girlfriend's GTI (automatic), I always stomp on the floor with my left foot when I try to start the car ... doh! :headbang:

When I drive my wife's marshmallow, I mean truck, I have a tendency to reach for the stick and clutch when having to come to a quick stop. I get laughed at, but then again, it is better than forgetting to do it in the Z

BTW fire-n-ice, Great Pic!

Never does that happen to me, ( we have all auto's ). When at homecoming is the first time in 12 years, driving a stick.I do sometimes think there is a brake on the passenger side though, or is that just helpful gestures ( requests ) from Robyn?

BTW

Now that we have met, I feel compelled to be nice.

NOT

It's a rare occasion for me to not stomp my left foot on the floor at least once when I am in a rental car. :dizzy:

Happily I never hit the brake with my left foot instead.

Both of our cars (my Z4 and my wife's X3) are manuals so I am not at all accustomed to driving with the slushboxes.

AlanL, even our 5-sp manual Squad is like driving a whole different animal. I love the challenge and different feel/handling capabilities of a wide range of stuff. If it runs on gas, I'm game - give it here :driving: !!! Tractors, go-carts, mowers,...they all have their fun side :D

I drive my auto daily for work. Once or twice in the Z I've nearly stalled when coming to a stop, as I've nearly forgotten to put the clutch in... !

I'm known to run on Gas occationaly (mostly after a good mexican meal).

I've done that in my truck a few times. I always laugh at myself before anyone else has the chance to laugh at me first.

I have to drive my step in manual mode because for some reason every time i come up to a corner, I want to down shift. So that I don't slip it into neutral, i just keep it in step mode. Never a problem going from the motorcycle to the car, just weird as I haven't had a manual car for 12 years.

I usually try to push the clutch pdeal in on my wife's 325xi when I drive it, then realize there isn't one. On the flip side......since it was a few years not driving s manual trasmission before we got the Z4 last year, I have occasionally let the clutch out without putting the shifter into neutral first. :headbang:

I've only done it once since getting the M.......requires a quick look around to make sure no one saw what I did.....
