switch car boot

I don't have a switch to open the car boot next to the OBD socket.
I did not see any electrical wire behind the cover
Did you know if it's possible to add switch?

I don't have it either. Speaks of it in the handbook. Maybe this is a US only option or if you have the comfort opening option only...
Never seen anyone talking about retro fitting the switch but imagine it would be a big problem for what you are going to achieve....

I have it (US spec car) and I never use it, it's just not worth the trouble to retrofit it in my opinion.

I thought about it, but being realistic, I've got to walk there to get stuff out (and it's not a big car) so I can't really see the benefit.

I'm an old fart and can still remember the days before central locking when you had to use a key to open the boot (vauxhall chevette, mk 2 escort etc)

or in the case of one of my Mk 2 escorts, it could be opened and started with the end of a spoon

I opened my mates Mk2 Escort with my Toyota key! He changed the car soon after and bought an Audi.

I bought a switch and fitted but never got around to wiring it in. The simplest way would be to run wires to the boot and pick up the wires from the boot emblem switch.

:o Don't go for the second one it looks crap! :P

I've seen these discussions before and TBH and have always come back to the same conclusions.....
1) If it's for you (as the driver) to gain access to the boot, well you have to get out and go to the back of the car anyway, so just press the unlock button on the dash (if you leave the car running). There is still a need to manually lift the boot lid anyway as we do not have auto-lifters on these cars.
2) If it's for someone else to gain access to the boot then just press the unlock button and they open it.

Either way this saves you a ball-ache of a time bothering to wire something in that has no real added purpose, and you'd still have to physically open the boot anyway!

Just my opinion, it's your car, you do what you want to it :D
