Swiss speeding cameras

Hi all.

Just started my 2,500 mile trip in the Z4 from England to Italy and I happened to get flashed a couple of times in Switzerland.

Does anyone know if they get in touch with UK drivers for the speeding offense?
I even had to pay €30 to use their roads.

Hmm, I tend to behave on the motorways in Switzerland as the fines are horrendous over there. Are you planning to go back via CH? Just as they are so tough on this that you might get pulled at the border.

Yup, listen to PVR. The crazy Swiss will ban you from driving in Switzerland for LIFE if you get caught at over 20kph over the speed limit. We go flashed in a tunnel or two and never heard anything but they are getting more efficient (that's why they make the best watches!) and i wouldn't put it past them to have a word with you at the border when you re-enter. Don't panic though as drining round Como, through the tunnels, up the San Bernadino Pass or even Stelvio and back into Switzerland for a more chilled drive is worth every second and one of the most memorable things you can do!

Hi Guys.

Thanks for the info. I'm not planning on going through CH soon but I'll beware on re-entry.

Currently in Florence and the Z4 is of course performing brilliantly.
I'll keep this thread posted on anything I get through the post. It seemed that the camera detector I use does not have any Swiss data :-(.

Bye 4 now

John

Be careful with that detector if you go through France at all. They're illegal to own, use, look at, even to load a web page with pics of them is illegal (well maybe that's taking it too far). Best remove it to a bag in the boot when in France.

Incidentally i got a 9,000 franc fine there a few years ago (pre-Euro!) for doing 145mph! I wonder if this is a record fine?
