Hi all

I have got a couple of days of business in Switzerland Tue & Wed this week (15/16 Feb 2001) will be in the west near Geneva.

Fancied taking the Zed and spending Thur / Fri driving (at least some of) the Swiss Alps between Switzerland/France & Italy border area around Chamonix / Mont Blanc. Ideally looking for a good route thats do-able in this amount of time.

Anyone driven in this area that has any advice?

So far my proposed route would be around Lake Geneva, Lausanne, Villeneuve, Martigny, The route De La Forclaz looks great,then onto Chamonix / Mont Blanc ; Don't know if I'll have the time for to include Tunnel Du Mont Blanc into Italy though?

Anyone driven in this area that has any advice? Much appreciated, thanks.

Annecy is lovely, may be worth a look.Not sure what the snow scenario may be at this time of the year,have you got winter tyres fitted?.

Afraid my driving time has been more toward Interlaken, the Trummelbach nearby is something to behold, the melt water from The Eiger, The Munch and the Jungfrau thundering down inside the mountain beside you. Further across the days drive around the Furka, Susten and Grimsel has been great fun when i've done it. All i'm afraid not quite on the patch you are considering, sorry.
Might be some info could be found in a road trip section of the site. Oh sorry moderators, we don't have one :oops:

Thanks my Kentish Friend, (and bigshurv too) :thumbsup: I'm off early in the morning (sun) will bounce some ideas off the people I am visiting.

Would be lovely to have some ice & snow free areas to drive through though, don't really want to have to add chains to the wheels if I can help it -let alone buy them for a couple of days use (-;

I'm hoping the west end at Geneva / Lausanne is clear enough to just drive to, then take it from there (weather looks good)

Excited :wink:

I've been getting so excited at a few rays of sunshine here in blighty that i forget it's just halfway into february so snow will be the order of the day in suisse and the passes closed in places :(
I'm sure you'll have a great time whatever :)

I'm Back

thanks for the good wishes - Wow :o what a place to drive 8) :thumbsup: Turns out with an E89 and 19" theres no option for snow chains, but luckily didn't need them. So pics and videos are on the way.

Probably took around 100 or so photos, so I hope one of them will have a chance at what is turning out to be stiff competition on the monthly comps.

Also took a fair bit of hi def video, so will compile a movie from some of this driving this week in the evenings and post some time next week
