My car is suffering from some bad swirliing and i am just considering my options. Either buy a polishing machine (that i may only use once) or get the professionals to do the job for me.
Is there a ball park figure for getting this sort of work done professionally?

You'll use it more than once. They are great for buffing after waxing, saving your arms

Depends how bad it is and what kinda protection you want...

Around £300 is a good start to get it something like

Steve's right mate, buy one & have a go yourself, you'll wonder why you've never bought one before.

Buy a decent DA Polisher, & don't be frightened of it, you'll be fine

I bought the below based on Gareth's (Z4M-2006) recommendations.

I chose the Meguiars Micro Fibre set, but you can buy the package you want from these chaps.

I'm fortunate as I live 10 mins drive from Clean Your Cars base, so popped in & had a final word before opting for this package

I use the Das-21. Great machine! good balance and with the smaller 5" plate its versatile. bigger throw than the Das-6 so can correct quicker. I use the megs fibre pads to correct and mens finishing foam pads to finish down. If you have major swirls the chances are your washing technique ( and any previous owners ) is pants and causing the problem. But a machine, correct, seal and wax then start to wash and dry properly and it will stay swirl free for a long time

Yes the previous owner was responsible for the swirls i've just carried on with his bad ways!. But now is the time to end this practice. Only thing has been I can rebuild an engine or put a new roof on my house but for some reason taking a machine polisher to my pride and joy scares me a tad. So I guess its time to man up, get a machine and practice on the wifes car when shes out

have a look at youtube for an hour before you do too much, might just help you out..

You can remove swirls by hand. I did on my old roady. Had a sore back for 2 days after mind.

Recently used a DAS6 dual action, worked wonders. Well worth 5 hours of your time. And doesn't hurt your back so much...

Thanks guys cant afford a bad back at my age

Does this kit fit the bill little concerned it may be too harsh??

For that price I'd be looking at the Das21. a far better machine in every way for correction ( i've used both ) and the 21 is far smoother to use. I think I paid £125 for mine.

Think a Das pro is easier for a beginner to use and easy to master..

The 21 does correct faster but personally I wouldn't advise as a first machine.

You can...

And I have....

It was an all or nothing try on a Nissan qashqui... It had been keyed but I was just trying to make it look better for the old guy.... Struck through easily due to the pressure you can apply with the 21..

You have no chance at all of damaging the paint with a pro 6

Strange as the 21 is as much of a DA as the 6 so pressure only stops it from spinning, it will only shake. Its the safeguard thats built in just like most if not all DA's. Its not forced rotation ( or at least the one from CYC isn't ) so I don't see how this is possible. Maybe your 21 is different than mine but mine from CYC is not forced rotation and simply couldn't damage ( unless some serious user error i.e. product filled wool pad thats got dried product in for days )

the 21 just has a larger throw. all the safety features remain the same

Nope...

Microfibre pad with medium cut compound...

The motor is bigger than on a Das, which you can easily stall.. The 21 takes a lot more pressure to get the head to stop..
Plus the 21 has a sculpted handle directly above the head, designed for heavy work pressure.. Whereas the smaller Das models don't..

Either way.. Both good DA's...
