Swirl marks/ fine scratches

My interlagos ZMR has swirl marks and fine scratches in the paintwork, since owning I've only ever hand washed it with meguiars products, I would love to know where they keep coming from! So I was thinking of buying a v2 and microfiber correction paint system and trying that out to see if they disappear. Has anyone here had any problems with the v2 or could advise me on what to try? :)

The dust of everyday life. Think of swirls as wrinkles, they dont make you look ugly, they appear with time.

They come from washing the car. No matter how well you do it, you will inevitably get them. The quick way to get rid of them is a machine polish :)

Which is why I don't dry the car but rinse it with water from a DI vessel.

Less contact = less damage.

There are plenty of threads on how to minimise damage. Mine is an Initial wetting from a distance using my Karcher, then do a Snow Foam wash, rinse, two bucket wash using a lambswool mitt and Meguiars gold class shampoo, rinse, then possibly a drying agent before drying the car (dabbing not wiping) with a Chemical Guys Wooly Mammoth towel. That's good enough to really bottom it. You can then improve on this with paint protection if required (wax or sealant), but as mine was sealed a few months ago, I just use some Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer which as anyone on here that's seen the finish on my paintwork, is the 'shiz', making the paint look like black water..

You need to do the correction first of course, and I use a Kestrel DA with some Meguiars compounds (can't recall what grade) to get most out. Only done this once so far though as with the above regime, its not needed often. The sealant used on my car is BlackFire.

I first jet it off and spray all the gunk from the bodywork, then snow foam then use meguiars wash and wax the one with the gtr on the bottle lol, then use a nano tech speed wax after. I regularly clay it but haven't had much time lately to give it a proper going over. I will try my luck with a machine polish see how shiny it comes up :)

Where can I purchase black fire? I use the meguiars lamb wool mitt too I spent a fortune on gear when I got my M haha. I was going to get the microfiber correction by meguiars I seem some videos on YouTube I think it will sort my problems out! It also doesn't help that my estate is a building site there still building houses in my street so it's very dusty I garage my car when I can :/

You can get it from almost anywhere online. Best to check with the seller as they do specific products for different colours (i.e. there's one for black, another for lighter colours etc). Its a sealant so you need to ensure its clayed and also stripped of all other wax before you apply it.

What is a DI vessel? I still have hanging around in the garage a "Flash" car wash system I got years ago....the last stage is to spray the car with it....it passes the water through a filter to de-ionise (?) it, to dry without spots. Guess this would do the same job after a proper wash?

Whats the difference between a megs microfibe wash mit, and the lambswool mit? Is lambswool regarded as being better? Do you wash it the same as microfibre?

Thanks! Ill get some ordered

Hmmmm i agree with all of the above and have used alot of the products mentioned before, but you dont have to be so extreme or go to so much time and expense.

WORSTE CASE FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE BASIC WASHING STEPS
1. Hose or jet wash the car first to remove dirt and grit (tap water will do)
2. Wash with car shampoo of choice, i Prefer Meguiars myself, ideally going top to bottom
3. Rinse WELL with jet-wash or hose again
4. Spay on some DEAMON SHINE whilst still wet (you can buy 5lts for £10)
5. Dry with 2 'CLEAN' Mircofiber cloths buff dry
Simples
JOB DONE

My car came swirl free and still is

*I will normally use a decent polish and wax twice a year

Choosing a Micro fibre or lambs wool or terry towel doesn't make much difference at all if you dont clean them every time. Grit and mirco contaminates on the cloth of choice will give you swirls.
The key is to think, If you can eliminate the risk of this happening the longer your car will stay looking fresh and swirl free. Where do i store my car cleaning products, have i dropped them on the floor etc.... Is the washing bucket clean, did i use it last week to clean out the gutters..... etc

I use demon shine too I get it from asda though its only £2! I regularly wash my microfibres but won't use a dirty one on my car, I find the better quality microfibers do a better job I have some cheap ones and there pretty naff!
