Swiftcover insurance

Morning all,

Anyone with Swiftcover and tried to change from runflats to non-runflats? Still waiting to hear back from them and they're taking an age. Also considering a MFSW - do I really need to tell an insurance company about a steering wheel? How daft does it get? Stubby aerial?

I'll be interested in this one as my rft's are looking a bit thin. What are you changing to?

Recently changed to swift cover from Direct Line and saved more than £300. Quote reduced to around £494.

Looked closely at the modifications section before hitting 'go' and couldn't find anything about tyres at all, so accepted the quote.

That's one of the things with insuring through an internet only site, you can't ask any questions.

My renewal with them dropped £40 from their quote last year, when I rang to stop the auto renewal to shop around they reduced by another £65ish

Z4MC for £320 I'm amazed!!! £300 xs

I've been shopping around for our insurance renewals. I've spoken to eight or nine insurers and disclosed the mods on both my zed and 5er. Half weren't interested in the change to run flats, the rest were. There doesn't seem to be any hard and fast rule on it, down to the individual insurer. When I explained why I changed over to run flats - to avoid having cracked wheels - they all seemed quite happy...

I was with them for 6 years (including 5 with a Z4R with non run-flats) and they were fine. I also had to claim once and also no complaints. After some initial wrangling because i wanted the work doing in a BMW dealer workshop it was sorted quickly with genuine BMW parts in a BMW garage to a high standard.

So hopefully good news then, thanks for your input. Will wait to get the official word from them but I can't imagine there would be an issue. There isn't any kind of performance modification involved unless you count no tramlining / better ride as performance.

I'm moving to Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's. From what I've read on here they're the mutts. Not sure what to go with for winter wheels though.

Swiftcover had no problem with changing to standard tyres for us.
I asked that the conversation was noted on our file and they said 'fine'.
