They will accept a change of wheels but I left them because they do not allow many other mods such as suspension.

I was with them had to cancel and change my policy becuase they wouldn't accept Eibach springs as a risk. Not sure on wheels but they are pretty risk averse on mods in general.

Swiftcover have a little line it their small print ( they did on my policy 3 years ago)stating that they reserve the right to use 2nd hand parts on repairs. If I'd spotted that, I'd have gone elsewhere.

Wouldn't surprise me if this practice went on throughout the insurance industry.

2nd hand parts is now a common clause on many car insurance policies. I found it on a few mainstream companies when I renewed earlier this year.
I don't think it is a concern on newer cars but older models will be a possible if the parts are hard to get hold of.

Got my renewal from "More Than" last week, and they stuck to their name....

New quote of £750/yr. Up £200 from last year. (No mods declared)

Went on the web site with the Fat Opera singer, declared mods (19's and lowered) came back with around £350/yr with Admiral and Elephant.

Went with Admiral. They called me the next day and offered multicar insurance. (Other half was even already with them) and they took another £40 off my policy and reduced hers by £5/month from this years price.

Bargain...............

Got my Admiral Multi Car Renewal quote for three cars - Z4 / Vrs Octavia / Rav 4. wanted £ 1550 +.
Using Tesco Compare, went with E sure for all three at £ 900.00 - same cover etc.etc.
Now looking at what mods I can do with the saved £ 650 !

Jez how come everyone is getting great deals, mine just keeps going up. tried loads of compare sites and independent sites, on the last one took out protected no claims and reduced to third party fire and theft and it went up 200 quid for loads less cover ...... mmm feel a rant coming on :headbang:

x2. Absolute stealers. Sure they act as a cartel. When you put your details into these price comparison websites and see some of the prices, it makes you wonder what on earth they're thinking.

I went with elephant again this year, insurance dropped by over £600. I expect a drop of about £400 next year to a slightly more sensible price of £800.
