"sweating" oil filler cap

Hi guys,

having an issue with my MQP and maybe somebody else has the same issue turning up:

My engine is sweating along and around the oil filler cap. Anybody else this issue and maybe some solution

It is also said that this filler cap should be different on an M engine than the other Z4 models ...

thanks guys, all the best

mine is a dry as a bone and always has been, without seeming like im taking the piss are you sure its on tightly?

@Beedub, No problem, don't worry, checked it multiple times and is closed as it should be ...

@Shipkiller, a greasy film, so I am almost 100% sure that it is the oil

You could have a hairline crack in the cover, or the large rubber O-ring could have some issue's under pressure..
A new oil filter O-ring is P/N: 11421741000 and is $3.46 or If you go buy a new oil filter cartridge, they come with new O-Rings. Same O-ring part number on the M-54, N-52, N-54 and S54.

Since I think you have an Z4MC, here is the RealOEM drawing for your S54: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=DU93&mospid=49424&btnr=11_3008&hg=11&fg=30

Thanks shipkiller, I was thinking that the rubber attached to the oil filler cap might have a production fault or is just not well put together ...

You are supposed to replace the O-ring every time you replace the oil filter. Thats why all oil filters come with a new O-ring.

Oh crap... I now just figured it out. You are not talking about the oil filter cap, but the oil FILLER cap.

Use this drawing: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=DU93&mospid=49424&btnr=11_2995&hg=11&fg=15

GOD, I feel stupid.. :headbang:
