Swapping Xenon Headlights from 2005 Donor into 2004 E85 – Advice?

I’ve got a 2004 BMW Z4 3.0i and I’m looking at swapping the headlights from a 2005 donor car with xenon main beams. Both cars are first-gen E85s, so I think they’re compatible, but I just want to understand what’s involved practically:
  1. Are there any checks I should do before removing the headlights from the donor car?
  2. Is it a straightforward swap, or do any parts, connectors, or ballasts need to be transferred separately?
  3. Any common issues or quirks people have run into during this swap?
Just looking for practical advice on what needs to be done, as would like to upgrade my candle vision 😊

No but it’s a Feb 2004 build so I know sometimes all the prep on early ones. I do have washer jets and headlights level on start up

From memory you’ll need to:

Rewire the plugs that attach to the lights
Reprogram the LCM
Install front and rear beam levellers
You may need to change the LCM too
