Bit of a strange question....but is it possible to swap over the driver/passenger seats over (just the leather part)? Thinking it would even the wear on the leather/padding.

it's possibly possible, but possibly a PITA - why?

How bad is the wear? would this help ?

We did this in the old days on our mk2 Sciroccos. Swapped a LHD drivers seat for a RHD pass and and RHD drivers for a LHD pass...

Much easier with those though

I took the back covers off a pair of Z3 M Sport seats to fix the seatbelt runners, was a big job but easy enough with the right tools and plenty of time.

I tried to do it but when I got to starting to remove the rings (pig hog rings) tying down the leather, I decided it wasn't worth it in case I couldn't tighten the leather back properly. I think to do it properly as well you would need some sort of tool to staple the rings/new rings.

In the end, I swapped the backs from either side with the bases remaining the same. The only downside is that the safety belt silver guide hoops ( I'll call it hoops but they have some other name I think) are now on the inside of the seats. This seemed strange at first but now i don't even notice. And when I put my seat belt on, I don't find it any different from previously when it went through the guide. I thought about buying 2 new guide hoops to even things up but didn't bother in the end as you would have to penetrate the leather.

Well worth the effort though, and I don't have to worry about making the original drivers bolster any worse and the passenger bolster is like new on the drivers seat now.
