Suspension

Hey guys,

i bought a 2004 Z4 3.0 last year and love the thing.

Anyway when i got the car i started to notice other z4's higher than mine and the suspension is non existent and uses my back as suspension....that i dont really mind as it is a sports car and looks good.

Its just been for a MOT and had to have the rear springs changed as it would of failed. I know all about the breaking rear suspension so guessing i might of been that.

the problem is my car looks mega high now and i dont like the look, does the high difference look right for a broken coil on the rear suspension?

Hi Mark. That really doesn't look right to me :? mine has the standard sport springs and sits miles lower than that, even non sport would only be 15mm higher, so something to me looks a miss. Also - may be worth popping a post in the newbies section before you get it mentioned a few times.

Thanks for the reply, its just been at the back of my mind that it looks a little odd. The car has only been took out once after they were fitted so should of settled by now.

Still think the gap on the original pic looks to sit higher. I guess they need to settle and could be uneven ground to add to it...

Looks to be sitting a bit high to me as well. Are you sure the correct springs have been fitted?

God knows, are the springs for the old and new shape z4's the same?

think i might have to take it on a good drive and see if it settles anymore, plus the left looks higher than the right. I didn't pick up the car from the garage or i would of said something.

Is the height of my car in the before pic the correct height for the oem springs?

Front looks like mine (sport), the rear of yours looks a little lower than mine does but then you're on a hill and you could say if you have weight in the boot/full tank/seated it on the hand brake ... or with failed suspension was sunken a bit?

Def look like non sport springs when should be a sport on a 3.0.

Take it back.

If there's no snow tomorrow I will take it for a blast and see if it settles.

Thanks for your help and will post a update. Looks like I will be buying lowering springs

Doesn't even look like non sport springs - just looks wrong. That won't settle either. Unless its just come off a jack stand ?

It has been for MOT drive and a half an hour drive when I got it back, I know it should of settled.

The car is really bouncy when u push the back end down, looks like x5 springs lol

I'll prob take it back and question them about it

Absolutely - and who supplied the springs? Get some part numbers up on here and we may be able to help

right I've had a drive out in the car. I measured arch to tyre before and after i went out

Before
Right - 75mm
Left - 95mm

After
Right - 75mm
Left - 90mm

So not much of a drop and the car is lopsided.

Pictures of it now

Mark
