Suspension refresh

Looking into possible suspension refresh on my Z4M Roadster

Option 1 Bilstein B6 with original OEM springs I have seen a few reviews suggesting better ride than going with B12 set up also I do not want to lower the car .

Option 2 new BMW OEM struts all round again with standard OEM springs ? I know the car came in for some criticism when new and today (but that now could be down to tired components ? ) regarding harsh ride .

Has anybody got any thoughts on these 2 possible routes or any other better options , use for on road and not track use .

Thank you

I have a 3.0si with msport suspension. I ordered koni struts last wek and am planning to resuse the msport springs for a front end refresh. I can report back after install.

KWv3 are very highly regarded on here and lots of info if you search. But they come at a fairly high price.

A couple of years ago a suspension supplier had a stand at an event at Bicester, so out of curiosity I asked for a quote for KWV3. Supplied and fitted with an alignment after it came to the thick end of £3K!

So I still tolerate the firm ride I get from the H & R coil-overs that the previous owner had fitted.

If I did make a change I would go with your first option.

I think the standard suspension suits the Roadster better than the Coupe, but even a decade ago when I did my upgrade to Bilstein B16 PSS10, there wasn’t much change from £3k…but it’s been well worth it.

If it were me, and on a budget, I’d just fit OE springs with B6 dampers…unless you can save a bit with OE-spec aftermarket springs.

I agreed with the OPs Option 1 which was exactly that! :poke:

I'd stick with OE springs too. I've read of a couple of MC owners who fitted Eibach springs and disliked them so much they went back to OE.

But given your Ring trips I can see why your investment in Bilstein B16 PSS10 was money well spent. But that set up or KWV3 would be overkill for me given how I use my car. It has only been on a circuit once, a parade lap at Donington.
