Hey there, managed to get hold of an alpina at a good price.. its needing some work done on it as its been sitting unused for a couple of a years. it pass the MOT but theres play in t he suspension

Nearside Front Suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.3)
Offside Front Suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush (2.4.G.3)
Nearside Front Suspension arm has slight play in a ball joint (2.4.G.3)
Offside Front Suspension arm has slight play in a ball joint (2.4.G.3)

Will these parts be the same as the 3.0i SE then?

Struggling to find somewhere that will supply them. any advice?

Cheers

Contact Sytners Nottingham, they're HQ for all Alpina imports - they'll be able to give you the correct Alpina part numbers and a price for them, then you can start shopping around

What build # is your Alpina?

its number #189, the body work needs a proper polish and a good valet. I just hope these parts aren't too expensive..

i will chuck some photos up when i've given her some love and attention! :) I will be selling my current z4 3.0 SE soon also.

So a Lux model in Black with black leather, build date of June 2004. The info on that car is quite out-of-date but if you'd be willing to update it over on Alpina Archive and supply some recent photos, Kees, who runs the Archive, should be able to supply you with a copy of the original factory build sheet

As far as the parts cost goes, it will depend if they're BMW parts or bespoke Alpina items, a phone call to Sytner will sort that out

Thanks I will give them a phone tomorrow and find out. Will get photos up etc once i'm finished touching her up!! Have a problem with the roof motor also... it unlocks and can here the motor running but the roof doesn't retract. im guessing theres a problem with the motor or something.

If the motor is running, have you checked if the red manual release handle in the boot has been pulled out slightly as this disengages the motor

Other than that do a search on here for roof problems as you'll find lots of troubleshooting info

yup looks like its pulled out about half an inch... i lined it up with the slot but it doesn't seem to want to go back in. i can't seem to pull it out either maybe needs some lube or something :)

Bingo! managed to get the roof working!! really chuffed! Thanks so much for the advice. BMW got back to me and told me its standard parts which is decent. Will order some lower wishbones and get polly bushes i think to fix the issue.
