Suspension out at rear according to garage - Eibach springs and lowered 30mm

Hi - My car is in the garage after a bump to the left rear wheel arch, they say the suspension is slightly out at rear but as its not OEM and is lowered (30mm on Eibach springs) it would be slightly "off".
Does this sound right? :fuelfire:
Does anyone have any numbers i can share that would indicate correct range?
 
What do they mean when they say it's slightly out? Are they saying somethings broken or that the alignment is out of factory spec?

If the latter, then Eibachs would most likely be the cause of this.

Also, rear trailing arm bushes do require replacing on Z4's. That could also give a dodgy alignment reading, if that's what they're talking about.
 
Thanks Ben, it's not broken (although he said it was very rusty :( - 15 years old Zed.... ) - i think he is saying its out of alignment with factory spec. But how far out of alignment i'm not sure... i will ask him about the trailing arm bushes.. Thanks!

Have they done a wheel alignment to confirm this?
 
When I put Eibachs on my Focus ST, by lowering it by the 30mm or so, as spec, it then pushed the camber of the rear wheels out , which then caused the inner edges of the tyres to wear as the weight of the car was then pushing on that. it made about 2.5 deg negative on my home made camber gauge. Perhaps that is what they are talking about. I bought for the ST, some camber adjustment bolts made by Eibach , which are an ovalised bolt to then adjust the camber back to the 0.5 deg neg camber which then stopped the wear and the car sat better too. I suspect that making large drops in suspension height on the Zed , may well have caused something similar with the geometry. The wheel will not work on a perfect line when you drop suspension.
 
That will eat the inside of the rear tyres with camber like that. NSF is too much as well, hence why they are showing red.
 
Why is the 'after' almost identical to the 'before'?

You'd want it to be in the green everywhere to get it back to 'stock'.

Also, if they're using a Hunter system, then need to tell it you've got lowering springs on it, otherwise the 'target' figures will be wrong.

Way too much negative camber at the back.

In reg to the front, for a sporty drive you could run -1.5 but both your left and right would have to be at -1.5 as opposed to just your left being at -1.5 and your right at 0.38.

Not being funny but I wouldn’t pay for that until they got the car within tolerances (which would mean all the icons would be green as opposed to red).
 
These are the tolerances for your motor.

Ahh yes sorry the above is for the 3.0 on m sport suspension.

The below is for your 2.2 on SE suspension.

Sadly MOT failed and now looking like this is becoming an expensive project that I'm not really skilled for so will be putting my Zed up for sale for someone to hopefully take on as a bargain and bring back to glory. I have found one I like for sale on Facebook and viewing Friday, fingers crossed.....

It hasnt failed on much. The front spring explains why that is out on the print out. Seems sad to let it go for a set of shocks, a drop link and a couple of bulbs !!

, plus a new wing, panel work on bumper, alloy refurb and tyre... It's all starting to add up ... I had a number in mind, I just don't feel I have the experience or knowledge to take it forwards and am truly gutted... :(

Also noticed that car had MOT til Nov 19.

Interesting that it was MOT’d nearly 6 months in advance...
