suspension geometry

Morning all

Just been doing some work on my E85 and have found the rear tyres badly worn to the extent that I've put two new rear boots on her.

The wear was on the insides only so I'm assuming that's a camber adjustment issue.

How adjustable is the suspension geometry on these cars? and how specialist is it likely to be?

Hi Ray,

Camber and toe are adjustable back and front on the E85

Try and find a place that use a Hunter 4 wheel align system, quite a few tyre places have them nowadays - But you'll have to see if they actually know how to use it, a few around here told me the toe is not adjustable on the rear, and the car doesn't need to be weighted before measurements are taken (!). Ask a few questions first would be my advice.

I'm sure someone local to you will be along with their recommendations.

I've just spoken with my local tyre garage and they can do me a full 4 wheel alignment for £40 + vat so I'm gonna do that.

Gosh thats cheap for 4 wheel alignment .
I got quoted 80 quid plus vat using a Bosch system -anyone know if thats any good cf Hunter -BMW quoted me a crazy 220 quid basic plus any adjustment needed [ie another 40 on top ] for a full KDS check whatever that may be . How do they justify that kind of charge ?

Had them checked Saturday and all seems fine. No charge as no adjustments.

Not hunter equipment though just a clamp on type Spenser on all four wheels and a blue tooth connection to the consol. I don't think anyone has the hunter equipment local to me unless anyone on here knows of one?

Sorry but if you have wear on the inside of the rear tyres, that must indicate a camber problem so I just dont believe no adjustment was required. Perhaps that could indicate why the check was much cheaper than others have paid.

I hear what you say but the tyres were already on the car when I bought it 6 months ago. I don't know the history of the tyres or what mileage they have done so can only take it on face value. It is my intention to keep an eye on the new tyres over the next few months to see if they start to feather on the inside. Unfortunately I do not know of anyone locally who has the hunter equipment to get it checked out.
