Suspension advice

Hi all,
Need some advice my car is 13mm lower at the back right than on the left, what would cause this, it's not the springs as I have just fitted H&R lowering springs and it's the same, as I did a measurement before and after. How can I correct this.

Do you have adaptive suspension? Have you had the car's alignment checked? It could be a damaged or faulty component in the suspension (wishbone arm) if its not springs.

Have you replaced the rubber spring pads with new pads when you fitted the lowering springs? A few mm of difference in the position of the springs multiplies the height difference seen at the outer wheel ride height.

Thanks for the reply, I don't have adaptive suspension, was going to get the alignment done on Saturday, will get them to have a good look at the suspension.

Thanks exdos, I never replaced the spring pads, I also own a Z3 and know you get different thickness spring pads, which you can use to adjust the ride height. Not sure this can be done on the E89 Z4, I think maybe it has got something to do with the spring pads, thanks once again

I checked at http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E...e/rear_axle/rear_spring_strut_mounting_parts/ before making my posting and there are two pads. Different design to the Z3 but same principle and I know they get damaged after a while which can change ride heights and the damage seems to be due to the way the spring ends are oriented in the vertical plane. Some orientations produce less pad compression/damage than others: I always make sure that there's a nice smooth section of spring end nearest the hinge part of the supension arm: therefore, in the E89/86/85 you want the smooth part facing innermost, whereas in the Z3, with the trailing arm design, it needs to be front facing.

Thanks for the info, definitely think this is the problem and need to replace the spring pads.
