Surrey/Berks/Hants Meet - Sunday 12 July - Subject to weather

It seems that The Black Swan in Ockham has reopened and will be having their next monthly classic car/bike meet which we tag along to, for anyone who fancies an early drive out in their Z4 and so far the weather forecast looks promising.

Full details are The Black Swan, Old Lane, Ockham, Surrey. KT11 1NG. Phone: 01932 862364. (Old Lane is a turning off the slip-road onto the Southbound A3 just after J10 of the M25).

They open at 08.30 for breakfast, bacon rolls, tea and coffee so any time after that works fine.

We usually meet up at Ockham Bites at the beginning of Old Lane for a coffee, bacon butty, etc. to avoid the potentially long queues at the Black Swan! So if anyone fancies doing the same I think they ought to aim to be at Ockham Bites a a bit earlier than previously, say 07.45 because as it's the first one since March I expect it may be busy. That way they should get park together if arriving before 08.30.

If anyone wants to turn up a bit later then just go straight to the Black Swan. Some people start leaving around 10 although others are still arriving, although it's pretty much over by 11 as the venue starts to focus on it's lunch-time trade.

On entry the pub need the marshals to collect names and phone numbers for the Covid requirements so if these could be ready that’s ideal.

A quick update on this as I don't want to do it last minute!

There hasn't been much interest shown so after thinking about it a bit I am going to give it a miss because when I rang them earlier in the week they said they had 370 people at their event last Sunday! And seeing as I'm getting on a bit now it doesn't seem too sensible to go to something attended by that many people at the moment. Hopefully next Saturday at the AV8 will make up for it!

It was a combination of track and trace/social distancing concerns that made me reluctantly decide not to go.

It was very good and busy people seem to automatically keep a distance didn’t hear anyone complain to me and i was marshalling.

Yes appreciate the concern Mr Tidy, strangely Ockham Bites was very quiet, only 4 people there when we arrived. There was a queue to enter the actual meet and was very busy but the venue is pretty good with so much space so was easy to keep a distance which seemed to be happening as TonyMor says.

I unfortunately did not get to meet the forum member with the coupe, we did spend a bit of time looking at it, very nice, but suspect they were looking around as we were.

Hopefully this horrible virus will disappear and we can get back to normal and all meet up again soon.

Looking on their Facebook page there will be one, but by all accounts if last month was anything to go by it'll be packed so it may be a plan to meet earlier!
