Surprising alignment needed!

When I bought my zed last February, the NSF tyre was heavily worn on the inside edge and the steering wheel was only slightly - but annoyingly - off-centre. I changed the rims and tyres, and the car has always driven fine; and able to hold its line down a flat stretch of motorway with hands off the wheel. During my summer road trip I was virtually forced off the road on a country lane by an oncoming Micra, with my NSF wheel dropping into a pothole the size of a moon crater - but fortunately, apart from a colossal bang and my recently-fitted splash panel being smashed :headbang: , the car continued to drive in exactly the same way.

Now the alignment on my son's zed has evidently needed looking at for a while, so I thought we'd have a trip out and get both our cars 4-wheel aligned on a Hunter rig.
I was a little shocked to see the result of my alignment check...

This was quite a lot worse than my son's car, that had been showing several indications when driving that it needed attention! Anyway, after a bit of a struggle with some seized and rusty nuts, successful alignment was achieved :)

Just wierd how the car was driving OK before... and so it doesn't really feel that different now - though to be fair, I've only done a few miles home on mostly motorway. Not been for a 'drive' yet :driving:

Driven enough to know my steering wheel is now straight though, so the OCD god is appeased!

That's interesting, as the Nearside front tyre on my M is showing much more wear on the inner edge of the tyre!

Still I am planning getting an alignment done once I've got the coil-overs set to a ride I can live with - at the moment it's too low for speed bumps. :(

But it'll be interesting to see what how it's existing alignment is like.
