Surprised with falling E89 used values

In my humble opinion if we started talking about falling Z4M prices the market would get hit. Look at 2008 and all the media coverage of the crash. It didn't help and just altered people's perception and was based on nothing tangible.

Just my opinion. We could start a conversation that Prince Charles had a sex change and if enough people talked about it, people would start believing it!!!!

No one's going to believe you. He likes the Aston V8 Vantage.

and that means he's a Bloke. Plain and simple. :fuelfire: :D

End of back to topic.

I was thinking the E89 was holding up quite well in comparison to the E85 , in 2010 I bought a 26k mile e85 3.0 with decent options and aero kit for 10.8 k - pretty good value for a 5 year old and at the year if build top of the range Z4. Different economic climate but the E89 has done ok .

Don't shoot the mesenger  a simple solution mr S , start a post highlighting the recent rise in used E89 values

I just bought my 2009 35i from a BMW main dealer and I paid £18,220 for it and while I was in the process of buying it the price compared favourably to similar models and at that price I think it is a good deal, it has all of the toys I wanted sat nav/DCT/heated seats etc and it has a one year warranty and only 23,500 miles on it.

I either wanted a 35i or a 35is but I didn't really want to spend any more than 18k as it is a weekend fun car so there weren't any 35is cars at anywhere near that price and I know many of you say the 35is is so much better than the 35i and I don't doubt that :) but this 35i is soooooo much better in every way possible than my E85 3.0si and for me the power this 35i has is just amazing so I am more than happy in fact I just adore this car as we took it onto the North york moors yesterday and it felt so brilliant to drive and just be in :)

As for prices the one Andy posted earlier is a decent deal but with 81,000 miles on it I wouldn't have touched it and that is a main reason for the lower price and the other two he listed were normal 3.0 models and one didn't have sat nav, I didn't check the whole spec on them, another problem when buying used is that finding a 35i or a 35is within your budget and with the colour combination you want is really quite hard as so many are in that metallic blue with white leather and I know it is really popular I just don't like light coloured leather in cars it just says luxury and I want sporty so I got a fab black car with red leather.

As for buying new even with the big discounts you will still be paying around £32,000 for a 35is and in a couple of years that will probably lose another 10k easily and I know I will lose on mine but at just over 18k I won't lose as much as those new cars will lose even with the big discounts.

I don't blame some buying new though as that would be exciting and I would have that lovely Valencia Orange colour  and let's face it life is short and it's only money we can afford our weekend car and are thrilled to bits with it and so looking forward to a week away in the Scottish Highlands in May in our superb roadster, so yes I know it will drop in value as all cars do but I really don't care that much as we will be too busy having fun and making memories :) Enjoy your cars whichever model you have

Key point at the end there Andy. Life is short and it's only money. Never a truer word written

And although the IS has a few differences, I had my 35i for over 3 years and it was fantastic. You will love it, I certainly did.

Or start a TV shown Called "The Classic Car Show" and do an article on the E-Type and how prices are guaranteed rock solid and future proof. Then sell your car.

Oh hang on Quentin Willsons done that one.

What is the difference apart from the extra 40 bhp or so ?
That little letter "s" !!! :)

Is this little S the new M

Not forgetting the extra 50Nm of torque on over boost & hill start assist only on the S model

and

The fact DMS can tune them up to 402 BHP with just a ecu flash !!

I have used DMS before and really rate them. I just know a remap would make my 35iS fly ... but another 18 months of warranty and the fear anything more than another 20bhp would probably mean it is difficult to deploy in 1st or 2nd mean I am going to resist.

I have had remaps before where 1st especially can't really be used full throttle and tbh it spoils enjoyment of an already rapid car. Mine is only at 3500 miles but my last at 30,000 flew so I know how they loosen up with a few miles under their belt

Ah.....

I cant even think of the last car i had that didnt have an LSD>......

S isnt the new M then im afraid....

Ian's was a stunner. The interior was really nice, massive step up from the previous gen.

Never really looked at the E89 before but a decent priced 35is would be welcome in my garage.
