surprised by how (relatively) inexpensive BMW warranty is!

BMW extended warranty looks like a bargain.

I got a quote from Warranty direct and they wanted £1,100.00

I think that given that if any thing goes wrong …… its always going to over £500. and if the DCT does wrong that i'm sunk. so £371 with £100 excess looks good value.

That's very good value. I've heard some right horrors about warranty direct and won't actually consider them now, even before that price you've just quoted. I will be investing in the extended warranty especially with the DCT. Worth it for the peace of mind.

And fir the little extra it costs, comprehensive over named component seems a no brainer but I'm sure some just see the price and make up their mind

Just had the same quotes for our 116d...and the prices are very similar to yours!

I just signed up for my extended warranty. Whilst i didn't like to pay £371.64, it has to be better then living with the thought of a damaged DCT or turbo or EPS, or ABS…… i think you get the gist :-)

Very good value!

I ran a full warranty on my CSL, so even at 10 years old it had new vanos, head gasket and induction flap motor all done under warranty.

Oh, a useful tip is to do the pay monthly option. My CSL warranty stated at £82 a month for 4 years...under the annual payment option it would have increased annually. The monthly option stays at the same price for as long as you own the car.

Reading this thread with interest - my initial AUC warranty runs out on the 4th April. I've been offered the same prices as above: looking at £284.86 with a £250 excess.

My question is: do you think it's worth it? The first thing I checked is what's not covered: which includes wheels... I've just had 3 new 19" 326Ms courtesy of the warranty before Christmas and as I'm worried that the new ones may go the same cracked way my main reason for looking at extending the warranty was hoping it would cover these. As it doesn't I'm not sure.

How worried should I be about DCT or roof failure on a 2011 car with 45000 miles on it?

Insurance is one of those comfort things in life. unlike motor vehicle insurance which is compulsory, this is a matter of choice. if by spending the money it will make you sleep easier…….. if not, then don't bother. This sort of insurance is down to personal disposition in my opinion.

Under £400 is an absolute bargain considering the complexity of a twin turbo E89 and that magic roof mechanism.

£900 sheets for an E85M :o

Using man maths, I could justify buying a 3.5iS and paying for it via warranty savings over a few years :D

Bit the bullet and went for it on the direct debit option - £26.54pm in the end doesn't seem too bad

Also your wheels will be covered by bmw warranty for 2 years from fitting. That's standard on ALL BMW parts and accessories even clothing! So if you do have an issue with or without buying an extended warranty you would still be covered but yes it's very good value and you never know what's round the corner!
