Suplex rear springs

Ok, apologies in advance but all the threads on this are fairly old!
I’m replacing the original (!!) rear coil springs on my 2003 Z4 3.0 but don’t want to change the current ride height.
I’m definitely not willing to buy the replacements from Sytners at £136 each so thought I’d go with Suplex from an online retailer which are about £120 per pair.
However, do I order the standard suspension (06228) or the M sports suspension version (06231)? I’ve been told that the pre-facelift cars were all M sports suspension but I just wanted to check before I buy online.
Thanks in advance for your help/advice

Try calling suplex direct based in Sheffield, they know their stuff and are very helpful.
You may even get them cheaper direct from them.
I have used them in the past without any issues,
I went to the factory and picked them up as i am not too far from them .
For the record mine were sport springs on a 2005 3.0

Thanks for the advice!
On Google, it’s says that they are permanently closed?!
I’ll try calling the number in the morning to see though.
Otherwise I guess I could call the main offices in Germany and try out my schoolboy German!

Thank you for your advice and the Ebay seller.
I’ll have to figure out somewhere if I have the sports suspension or not!😂

I have also heard the advice of all pre-facelift 3.0i Z4s were factory fitted with M-Sport suspension. Try checking here by putting in your vin and looking for the following spec item:

This is a US URL but should work for you. Just enter your Vin and is should show all your cars options. It did show I have the M sport suspension. https://www.mdecoder.com/

This one worked! Thank you!
I do have the M sports suspension and so will order accordingly from the Ebay seller!
Thanks again everyone😁

Just to finish off the story ( which may be of help to other members in future)
The Suplex factory in Sheffield has indeed closed but there is someone on the phones to redirect your call to a certified dealer.
I was directed to Excel Automotive Group in Leeds.
I managed to get the rear springs for £50 each and was convinced(!!) to change my front springs at the same time as they were £22 each.
So a full set of Suplex coil springs for the price of just one rubbish OEM spring from Sytners!!😂
Sytners did get some business from me though; I’ve bought new top and bottom mounts from them since new springs on old mounts didn’t make much sense!

Yes, the place in Sheffield has closed down permanently.
The main factory in Germany is still operating though with certified dealers in this country!
So, no rush to buy any spares😂

I know that this question will have been asked before -

I have a 3.0si M Sport - is it a straightforward swap to put standard 3.0si rear springs on the car ? i.e. are the top and bottom spring mounts the same across the types ?

As an old fart, I like going fast but I don't like being banged around by hard suspension. ( I have non run flat tyres, but it is still a bit harsh for me).

I realise that raising the cars height (albeit by only 15mm) will change the handling slightly and will be abhorrent to the young "slammers" out there - soz 😉

Are you seriously considering just changing the rears on their own?

Yes.
But that doesn't answer my question.

As far as I am aware, the rubber top and bottom spring mounts on the rear are the same for all versions of E85/E86 Z4 (part numbers 33531094518 and 33531136385).

Before you buy any springs I would check that the rear springs haven't snapped. Its a common fault in the Z4 and can cause your car to sit slightly lower than it should (only the very end of the coil breaks off usually). If they have snapped then swapping for another set of M Sport spec springs would re-raise the ride height.

Hope this helps.

Thanks very much Dan.
I have looked carefully and can't see that the springs are broken. Additionally the height from lower wheel rim to arch is equal each side at 60cm, which I believe is normal for the M Sport.
The ride is not horrific, but I just want it a tad softer.

No the shock absorbers are different from factory for standard and M-Sport suspension. I don't specifically know what the difference is, whether its travel, bump/rebound damping or something else.
