I’ve had the Powerloop backbox fitted, with Kieran at Salisbury Powerflow fabricating a very accurate replica of the SS Y Pipe for £200 fitted (vice around £450 landed for the pipe alone). Seemed like a sensible way to go, as there’s nothing special about that part of the set up. OEM resonator retained…for now!
Overall it was around £1100 for the back box delivered (inc. taxes), £150 to fit it and another £200 for the Y pipe fabrication (which you do need). So not cheap, hence why I wanted to share the experience for any others contemplating this upgrade. If no drone is your priority, alongside more depth, this is a good way to go. If you want more noise and drama, you might find it a little subdued.
I’m 200 miles in and I like it. The tone is noticeably deeper and there are light burbles on the over-run. It is, however, quieter than I expected (or I’m getting deafer…entirely possible!). The Tips look nice, and as has been commented many times before they just fill the space so much better.
Next step - I may delete the Resonator and replace with an X pipe, to hopefully increase the volume and top end scream without becoming anti-social….but a few more spirited blasts before making that decision. It does sound like it’s still bedding in and getting a little richer/louder with each drive.
I’ll post separately if anyone wants the original backbox, which seems to be in decent condition.
Kieran at Powerflow Salisbury is excellent. A real craftsman, who enjoys what he does. Highly recommended if you are over this way.
