It's a really nice, high spec car but I suspect int he current motor market a good £2k over its achievable figure. If 1 year old ///M's can be had for £26 that has to ripple right through the market

My daughter has just picked up a black Cooper S, 15 months old, fully loaded chilli pack, JCW for £3k below dealer book and that's from BMW Mini main agent with manufacturer warranty, TLC parts and labour for 3 years, 4 new rims and tyres plus every minor blemish returned to as new. - buyers market

Looks to be identical to my car minus the wheels (I have M6 wheels). I'd imagine my car is worth about $20-22k USD but I also have 40,000 miles.

Sorry for the Hijack! :D

It only arrived late Monday and for some unknown reason my daughter has vanished with it pretty much ever since. I will post though ASAP

Thread returned to Tedster's car sale...

Sorry Tedster, the last 2003 3.0 I saw sold went shy of 10k ...

Yep...that was mine probably!

2003 61K miles, Mechanical excellent, cosmetically average, all the toys.

I was hoping for £10.5 but settled for less to shift it quickly. These things are just going slide even more...there was just under a 1000 z4 for sale last week. Equally, the ///m I bought had slid as well, so swings and roundabouts.

I had it on the forums and pistonheads for a week before hitting autotrader...not a single lead from the forums - so if you haven't got it on Autotrader, get it on - it's still the place where 95% of people first look for a car.

Good luck...

Agree 100%.

Forums are no good for a "standard" car, if you have an Alpina or M then you would have a better chance perhaps. I sold my 3.0 within 6 hours on Pistonheads though, but that was more then a year ago - before the worsening market conditions.

pvr, I think the thing with yours was that it was a one-owner car, with low mileage and in exceptional condition, and was also a more unusual colour than the usual fare. I got £2k+ less than you got, and mine was newer. I think that private buyers are so selective.

Market has changed dramatically though

Ah yes, I remember, time to rub some more salt in those gaping wounds of yours. How much less did you get again?

LOL at least it never lost anything like this SLK has so far, lucky I don't have to sell it or anything :)

I think there is a good moral there, and that's not to buy the "signature" or "launch" colour of any car, a lot of the press pics and cars were Sterling Grey as mine was, and I think something a little bit different sells better when the time comes.

And another thing, I'm certain now that pro nav cars get at least £750 more, so it's something to bear in mind now when speccing one, or buying a used one.

I pitched this argument a year or so back and I feel it's becoming more extreme than ever. These days picky buyers simply expect such built into cars as a basic requirment of a quality marque. The most unsaleable car right now has to be an X5 manual, cloth interior and no Sat Nav

Holy moly, Wondermike is moderator now. Better tone my salt statement down a bit :D

Apologies to Tedster for the continued thread hijack, at least it's keeping your thread at the top

Yep, I might even get it next time (or make more of an effort to find a demo/used car with it), it's not worth the full price but if you get half back then it is maybe worth it. I think dealers are coming round too, when I bought my SLK 15 months ago there were no demo cars with nav, now most of them seem to have it. There was a mild facelift which explains some of it, and they'll have wanted to use up the old units, but most of the facelift ones I've seen recently have it too.

Cloth on premium cars has always been bad news. How are petrol X5s doing, are people moving away from diesel with the high price, or is it same as ever?
