So what do you reckon?

Does the use of super unleaded really make any real world difference to the performance of the zed?

I have a 2.0l zed ...would I see a difference if I switched to super unleaded? If so, what are the benefits?

Thanks in advance.

i feel no difference- but i do run mine on super- i think its got to be better for the engine

Felt a difference in my old car but not really noticed in this one but only ran lower octane couple of times when 97 was not available.

Defintely makes the car smoother - was the same (but more noticable) with my old Mini Cooper S. Actually, the guy who I had modify the Mini had so much experience of Mini's running different fuels he could guess pretty accurately what you were running (i.e. Shell V, Tesco 99 or BP Ultimate)!

My car performed noticably better after I did the switch on for 10 switch off for 10 switch on for 10 start thing, or maybe its just me being a hooligan.

Honestly you expect that kind of behaviour from some 17yr old in a saxo but not someone in a sophisticated bmw sports roadstereo.

if you can afford the extra £4 - 5 a tank do it, if not your not missing out on stellar gains, i use only v power and its a bit smoother over normal shell unleaded, if you drive like a granny then normal unleaded seemed to me to give better mpg in my 2.5i - mid thirties, but when you put your foot down every now and then it drops to 27 mpg. on v power i can hammer it like a mad man and still get 27 mpg, or do a mixture of normal driving and thrashing it when the opportunity arises and still get 30 mpg.

all depends on how you drive, or if you feel the extra cash per tank is worth it.

The extra cash isn't worth it unless you're going to the track. Our babies are so good on premium already that we don t need that tinybit extra... unless you're really wealthy and it doesn't hurt to burn thru cash.

Mine seems to have better fuel economy with 95 than Tesco 99. Probably as the Bio-Ethanol they use to increase the octane is actually less calorific..?

Never used non-super so can't really compare but it does supposedly make a difference - and the higher performance the engine, the bigger the increase.
