Sunglasses holder removal

Hi
My glasses holder in the headliner on my e86 does not pop open without prising it from the edge. I see you can buy new parts but how do you remove the unit?

I couldn't find a how to anywhere but I did look

Hmm useful but not really sure how you extract the unit itself

Why do you need to remove the whole unit ? It's just a shell. If it wont open/close then it's the spring catch widget.

The unit is simply held in by stepped edges on the frame.

To remove you just need to either pull the unit to one side so that the other side moves away from the roof trim...or use a plastic spudger/pallet knife to release the trim.

It’s not in very tight at all.

A bit expensive fr a bit of plastic but the damned thing had started to annoy me

Maybe it IS easier to get the whole thing out to fit the clip if it just 'spudgers' out.
