Sunday Times Z4 Coupe second hand reveiw

Read this yesterday in the Sunday Times looking at second hand Z4 Coupés.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/driving/used_car_reviews/article4740984.ece

I picked up on this though:

"When talking money, expect to pay a premium of about £1,500 for a Sport over an SE. The good news is the market is going down, with June and July seeing values plunge by nearly £1,000 per month on a 3.0 SE manual."

Wish I had waited to buy a Z4 now!

Read that too and thought it was a good article for a newspaper in that it just gave a fair assessment of the car.

Interesting alternatives suggested..

Just noticed that second hand Z4's have dropped a further £1,000 since last week on my local dealers website!!

If they go down much more, Z4's will start appearing in Fast Car magazine!! :o :P

Breaker - Are you unhappy with your car?

Surely dips in value only affect you at the time you wish to sell...

You've had your car for a few months now - You would have missed all that enjoyment had you waited for prices to come down...

Enjoy your ride :D

I totally agree with you, but it is a little annoying having lost nearly £6,000 in 6 months!! And it wouldn't have been relative on PX either as the JCW MINI I traded then hasn't lost much more in value now!

Guess I will have to keep it now! :D

Life is too short to worry about some things :D

Keeping it is good

If you really want depreciation as a % and enough to hurt the pocket too - in 1998 I purchased a brand new Ford Explorer at the princely sum of £28,500 and very nice it looked on the day I got it. After 12 months I decided it was a bit too rough for long journeys and chopped it in, but sadly the Firestone tyre fiasco was in full swing and media hysteria had it that the cruise control was killing people. I got £9,500 for it. A loss of 65%/£19,000 in a year!!!

Now I keep my cars much longer and I'm unaffected by it when amortised over the life.

I agree, not a bad site that either.

The article says something about the coupe having a "quicker-ratio steering rack".
Is the coupe steering different from the roadster? I had not heard that before...where have I been? :scratchhead:

They're referring to the M Coupe. The M Roadster gets the same ratio as the M3 (15.4:1), the M Coupe gets the ratio of the CSL/ZCP (14.5:1).

I'm looking at changing mine, looks like I should have chopped it in sooner. god only knows what the dealers going to offer me for it. Not a lot I guess!!!
