Spent a few hours cleaning the ///M today then took her out for a quick spin and stumbled across Wroughton Airfield.

Used the opportunity to get some pics. Any comments or critique welcomed!

Enjoy!

Cheers! Yeah, saw your post - not sure I would have been able to get up that early but give me shout next time!

Looking at how good your car looks with 224s and Aero skirts ( ) - I'm thinking I might get some 224s as winter wheels

I really want CSLs though I'm not sure they have as much impact on Ti Silver as they do on other colours. As the CSLs are mainly cosmetic - I would get more benefit from spending the money elsewhere (strut brace, springs, Vibratech mounts, alignment etc…). We shall see!

dubsesd used to have CSLs on his Titanium Silver Coupe - but they were done in shadow chrome. I still think they were the best wheels he's had on that car

I do like his in shadow chrome but it just adds to the overall cost of getting CSLs (unless they need a re-furb anyway) and would make them more difficult to sell on eventually.

I have thought about getting my 224s done in shadow chrome as one of the wheels has some very minor kerbing and are due a re-furb anyway. Decisions decisions!

I wonder if there were a few other German Fockers and ME109's that visited Wroughton airfield in the 40's?

Your car looks brilliant.....

What camera and lens you using ?

Canon 500D with kit lens (EFS 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 is). Nothing special but its abilities are better than my talent so has served me well.

Nice pixs  you or the GF take them?
Btw was their a runway there you could use.

My photos this time.

I snook in the back gate I found, as the front gate is attended. I had a bit of a play on the taxiways but nothing too 'antisocial' as I didn't want to draw too much attention.

I spoke to a friend of mine who said that you can access the three runways buy there is a 20mph limit on them (boo!) as there is a Museum and other local business that use the site. They are planning to turn the site into the UK's largest solar farm with 150,000 panels so won't accessible at all soon.

Will have to go back and 'investigate' further before they shut it down!

I actually prefer TomScotts car on his 224's, the chunky tyres really match the chunky, wide arches IMO. That said, is good to have the choice of both......one day *dreams*

The 224 has to be the worst looking M-wheel EVER!

I have owned several M3's with OEM wheels and even the M3 E36 3.0 wheels look better, and they look like sh-t :)
