Sunday 9th Aug 10am Scartop (Haworth) BD22 OJL

Nice to see you guys again and meet some new forumites.

Apologies for the video, the GoPro was mounted a little low so the exhaust fumes distort the picture a little

Sounds good though

Yep, great to catch up fellas...I'll look to arrange a meet in the middle of September at the Turnpike, (Couldn't let you down Pete )

Cheers for the vid clip Dan  that GoPro is a great piece of kit & knowing how to use it impressed me just as much

Yes nice to be there and meet Mr Wilks and Wingman Mark, Halifax Bantam again and to meet Dan finally - thanks all for a good meet-up.

For some reason I can't get the video to play on the laptop but have listened on my phone and I'd say that was considerably more representative of the sound than we had a couple of weeks back courtesy of BCS' vids (no offence to BCS - the work they've done is amazing and the finish on the boxes looks great). I think the BCS vids are pretty much "full beans" throughout and it was worthwhile getting a better mix of throttle and non-throttle or trailing throttle, whichever you prefer, so good work Dan on having the means to capture that. I should say I liked the sounds Mr Wilks' car was making; let's hear the other boxes (was it premium or something?) and I might go in for one of these (its cheaper than new alloys and nearly on par with an Eventuri).

Ashamed to say that my motor was the least clean there today but I've rectified that now... I'll pop something in the detailing thread on that note in a while.

I actually liked that cafe. We sat outside on the elevated stone terrace and watched a few motors go by (VW group gearboxes being the most obvious IIRC). Nice ride to get there too, appreciate getting to know a new location, thanks chaps. I prefer that to the turnpike! Might have to just come up with my own venue one of these days.

For non-attendees, I followed Mr Wilks on the videoed run from a safe distance (he'll say I was miles behind - I'm saying I was still warming the car up). The sound of Mr Wilks' boxes is quite something. A bit Fezza-esque at high revs (in a good way); my only concern is drone but I'm not sure that can be figured out without having them fitted and doing a bit of testing, especially on a Coupe. That being said, whoever ends up being the Coupe test mule should post vids - and I think the only thing missing with Andy's to date is the interior sound, whether roof up or down. He did report that his Mrs can keep it low-sounding, which I can believe. Equally, when his car was, say, 100+ yards in front of me (windows down, roof obviously in its normal place), I couldn't hear it at all.

Cracking day for it, too.

Scartop is a great place for breakfast Steve especially out on the terrace so glad you enjoyed it .
Re the boxes / After the last 3 weeks & 400 miles predominantly roof down id say the current boxes would be perfect on a Coupe as there would have to be a reduction in noise with the tin top in place & now ive adjusted from the virtually silent standard boxes i don't find it obtrusive at all . You can use the phone / radio without any problems on the move with roof down , not sure if this is the same with other aftermarket boxes ?
If id have thought you could have rode passenger but that would not convey the noise you would hear if fitted to a coupe ?

No worries, Andy, the sound as you follow is just as important so a passenger ride is only half the story anyway.

Re: the sound in a Coupe, we'd need someone who understands harmonics better than I to say whether it would be better/worse. I thought about it yesterday and I can see arguments both for and against - but that's down to my own lack of understanding. Might just be easier to discuss with Nige!
