Being stuck in a desert in Saudi Arabia leaves me very little to do at night time right now, so perusing music, and I came across what I think is a stunning rendition of Dire Straits. Thought I would share! Enjoy :)

Nice rendition. I went to see DS live, TWICE in 1985, and their music has stayed with me until now. Also seen Mark solo a couple of times, but not the same, although I think he's one of the world's best guitarists, and his vocals ain't too shabby either.

Earlier than my time unfortunately but I would love to have experienced that as well. Agree with you on Knopfler, he's fantastic. My favourite version of sultans is the live alchemy version, once they break from the studio end and into the extended stage version, there are several parts where the whole band seem to move beyond individuals and you can almost see them becoming "one". Bloody fantastic.
