Suggestions of fun cars for 5/6k

again, depending on the kind of fun... what about a fun oldtimer? Might keep it's value much better and a very different experience as compared to the Zed.

VW Corrado VR6, the upcoming calssic in my opinion and might leave you some money to get her in great condition
Lancia Delta Integrale, another good classic, but not sure if it is reliable?
The unloved Porsche 944 Turbo, great cars and still good value for money
Jaguar XK8 (ugly interior though)
BMW M3 oldtimer, not sure whether the newer ones really keep their value

Those would be my options taking into account the short timeframe you want to keep it.
If you would keep it for a longer period of time, I would defnitely go for a Porsche 911 oldtimer...

The main problem with the E46 M3 is the sub-frame cracking. Could be quite a scary prospect for a motorist on a budget.

Running costs of an E46 M3 are also unlikely to make the M3 conducive if your layout budget is 5-6k (which wuldn't be a great example for that price).

I was referring to the MK3 MR2 which i call the MR-S.

VX220 would be a struggle also, prices are really strong at the moment due to availability.

Type of fun: I'd be using it as a daily drive but enjoy a good home on a weekend. Not planning on tracking it really, altho wouldn't rule it out.
Being a girl with fairly limited technical know how (but more than most!) I'd prefer to have something newer and more reliable.
Edging toward either a slightly older Z, or an r56 Cooper S... Had plenty of MINIs and the other half has a John Cooper Works at the mo, but I still love them!

But I don't get why you call it a MR-S, as that is the foreign version and different from the 'normal' MR 2 roadster which is what most of us who own/ed one call it.

I don't understand why you would get a second Z4? You could just as well use the Z4 you already have and trade it in, in a few years using the 5K for a newer Z4?

I'd be selling the Z I have (10k ish) to release a bit of cash and buy a cheaper one (about 7k)

My friend has a Silver M3, I think it's a Y reg, don't know what year that is, 2000? , about 75K iirc, he's been on about selling that for about £6K iirc :driving:
 
We had an early Civic Type R before they changed the model and it was a real rocket ship especially when it hit VTEC.

Felt indestructible too. Nice easy upgrade to 300hp too with a supercharger bolt on.

Nor sure if you're serious or not, but it looks horrible to me.

Especially when they go on about spending £000's on bodywork, £000's on paint, yet leave the worn seat which would cost £10 to fix yourself.

Yeah I like it, but would need to see those colour flips in person. I've never bought a car without having the dealer put some things right first.
