Succeeding in life

Succeeding in life means so many different things to different people as this thread has shown.
Some will find they have only succeeded if the have money in the bank, some as long as they are happy.
I think there is no real answer and people are confusing successful with succeeding as well.
Make it to the end helping others as you go along.

It's all dependant on your age:

At age 4 success is not peeing in your pants.
At age 12 success is having friends.
At age 17 success is having a drivers license.
At age 20 success is having sex.
At age 35 success is having money.
At age 50 success is having money.
At age 60 success is having sex.
At age 70 success is having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is having friends.
At age 80 success is not peeing in your pants.

Very good.

For me, successful people are people who have done things rather than make money. Money might be one method of measuring success, and it is the easiest. Overcoming adversity really impresses me.

To help and guide your children to have a better life than you did.

To try, in some small way, to leave the world in a better place than when you entered it.

I like this. It fits my feelings on the subject. I'd just add having some fun along the way, and ending up content.

It's not about money for me.

Success to me is having an M Sport 320d while my neighbour only has the SE. Winning.

This, however, needs a re-write

Getting to the point of no debt for anything...

Managed it at 39.......

Success or relief..... I aint sure...But its a lovely feeling.

being happy with your lot i guess... a few toys, couple of holidays a year, nice home and kids... good enough for me
I would second the above with the addition of seeing the kids make something of their life.
