Have set my heart on finding a set of style 32s for my e86. Understand that lots of different variations of these were made - looking for a direct fit so I THINK the ones I need are the staggered 8j/8.5j ones. Flexible on condition but there can’t be any cracks or welds.

Happy to buy them off you, or I could also do some sort of swap for my current MV2s which are in really lovely condition.

Style 32s are lovely wheels and are apparently lighter than MV2s and 108s so long as they came off an E46 3 Series - they were fitted in different sizes to other BMW models.

The E46 ones are the same dimensions as MV2s, 8J IS47 front and 8.5J IS50 rear.

Good luck. Having spent several years looking for a decent set of style 32s, I can tell you that a good set will cost you about twice as much as a good set of MV2s. But they are, IMO, one of the nicest if you get the right fitment.

Cheers Mr Tidy, that helps! I had heard they were quite light, I wonder if that’s a good or bad thing with the state of the roads currently😖

Oh blimey, 2 years! I spent 6 months looking for my coupe, that was bad enough. I do wonder how picky I should be about the condition of the wheels - per my understanding of alloy wheels (which is not very much), as long as there’s no major structural damage then generally they can be sanded/stripped back and brought back to their former glory?

I had a set of black 32s years ago with winter tyres on but never used them as my Z4 stayed at home when there was snow, ice or salt on the roads so I sold them.

I had a couple of 17" wheels acid dipped and powder coated (which is the way to go IMHO) in 2024 but it cost just over £160.

Generally speaking, around £90 per wheel for a professional full refurb, although this does seem to vary with whereabouts in the country you are. It is possible to refurb wheels yourself, but I wouldn’t fancy doing this on a style 32 due to the number of spokes and difficulty sanding between them.

Thanks for letting me know! They don’t look too bad, and the price is nice. As you say he mentions they came off an e91 but as far as I can see style 32s never came in the 18” size for that car http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/bmw/32

So perhaps he just means the e91 was the last car they were on. I’ve asked anyway.

RE the powder coating, is this something that can be removed or will that require paint back to the original colour? Suppose the coating could be masking some damage too…

I think damage would still show through, unless it's been repaired under there?
You would need them painting or powdercoating back to the original colour.

Thanks - not a huge issue I suppose as long as no cracks or welds. Waiting to hear back from the guy now, cheers for the pointer

I did truncate the list somewhat for the relevance of my question

There are a few “staggered” sets that are 18” but all the others are 8x18 at the front, 9x19 at the back

All assuming this list is 100% accurate of course

Good choice - I had them on one of my previous coupes 👍

This could be a useful reference…

Next set ask for pictures of the part numbers and cross reference. 3 series alloys often have perfect offsets for the Zed at around et34.

Edit but on these it looks like they’re et20 which is pokey.
So the 47 & 50 probably best as detailed above.
BMW part numbers…

The et20s look bling because they have a much deeper dish, but they won’t work on an Z4. The only ones that work really are the et47/50, same as standard Z4 staggered fitments. They are super cool, and light, which is probably why so many are cracked and welded.
