Style 162 alloys on Z4?

Evening all

Potentially purchased a cheap set of style 162 alloys to use on my E85 whilst I think about getting my MV2’s refurbished.

I assume that these will fit straight on with no issues? Struggling to find pictures of these wheels on a facelift Z4 to get an idea of how they would look. Anyone put a set of 162’s on their Z4?

Cheers
Ben

Hi Ben, I haven't had any Style 162s but I can't see any reason why they wouldn't fit an E85/86 unless it has been lowered or has spacers fitted.

They seem to be 8Jx18 ET34 fronts and 8.5Jx18 ET37 rears.

I fitted a set of 295s with standard Z4 tyre sizes from an E89 to my previous E86 that had standard M-Sport suspension and had no issues with rubbing. They were 8Jx18 ET 29 fronts and 8.5Jx18 ET40 rears.

Those 162s would sit 5mm further into the wheelarches at the front and 3mm further out at the rear than the 295s I had, but would fill the arches much better than your MV2s that were ET47 on the front and ET50 on the rear!

To be honest if you preferred how the 162s looked it might be cheaper to keep them and sell your MV2s as needing a refurb!

And now you've got a photo.

Thanks both, really helpful. I quite like the look actually, especially as they will fill the arches a bit more!

And Mr Tidy, I think you are right. I’ll see if I prefer it with them on and then may just sell the MV2’s.

That's why I bought the 295s and sold my original 108s before they needed a refurb. And I liked having something different to the usual 108, MV2, CSL Rep options.

Those 162s will be sit like MV2s would with a 13mm spacer front and rear (if anyone made 13mm spacers).

This is exactly why I brought the bolas for mine, different to the usual suspects :)

Managed to get them fitted today, and I have to say that do like them - they may stay and the MV2’s will either get refurbished in time or I might sell them on

I'm with you there - I think they look great.

I prefer a wheel like this with a bit more substance to it. I’m not a big fan of the “iconic” 108 for instance, which is mostly a window onto your brake discs and callipers (which is great, of course, if you want to show off your fancy callipers).

Yes I like those too :happyclap: After the trials and tribulations I’ve had with the 108’s on mine I’d still like something different and preferably not 5 spoke. Got me thinking

The wheels definitely seem to be going down well. Surprised how good they look and that more people haven’t gone for them. I could only find a handful of photos of 162’s on a Z4

They’re not the easiest of wheels to get hold of. I’ve been keeping an eye out for a set for my E90 for a while but they’re either not worth refurbishment or are very expensive. I’m in no rush so will wait until the right set come up.

They suit your car really well

Thanks! I didn’t realise that they were hard to get hold of. Managed to pick these up with two brand new tyres (of questionable brand mind you and a couple of scuffs) for £350 which I was happy with
