I just ordered the cable on Amazon.Ah gotcha
Yes there are plenty of guides on here if you use the search function
It’s a 4 step process using inpa, wnkfp, ncs and toolset32 do you have the software and compatible cable?
Ok, sounds good. Is there a step by step guide on this forum for programming a new VIN into the STVR?Most of us are in the uk so that may be expensive
I am in New York in October though
Yes you need the whole suite of software and you need to follow the process step by step or it won’t work, or worse you damage/brick the new module
Ok. I’m up for learning to do it.You can I think use ista to do it without the 4 step but I’ve never used it and haven’t seen anyone detail how it’s done
Tried and tested is the 4 step process as far as I’m concerned
The problem I am having is that the files wont install on my laptop. They talk anout needing extra protocols, .net files, etc. I have no clue what any of that means. I'm not a software person.I’ve tagged the how to guide in a few posts above
That’s the best one if I recall
Pretty sure one of us would have found that by now. Even fancy modern BMW dealer software can't do it. I have done weekend trips around the UK, and even had one member fly me to Ireland to code modules in using the clunky INPA/WinKFP/NCS/Tool32, because awkward as it looks, it works. The problem I am having is that the files wont install on my laptop. Isn't there a one stop shop program or scanner I can hook up to my car and reprogram the VIN into a module?? It seems like it would be a simpe task and shouldn't need to take so many programs, etc.
Can you help me set up my laptop via a phone call? I’ll pay you for your time.Pretty sure one of us would have found that by now. Even fancy modern BMW dealer software can't do it. You need to set the System Time as well as the VIN.
I am no software geek either. It's a tool and when it goes wrong I'm stuffed. Hopefully you can find someone who can help you to set up your software properly. Once you have it you'll be in demand.
As I said, I can use it but I don't know much about setting it all up. You need someone who understands all the 'drivers', 'Daten files' etc that are just Swahili to me. Sorry. Can you help me set up my laptop via a phone call? I’ll pay you for your time.
OK, think I've found it. Seems USA cars have an extra module in each door that then report via the SBSL or SBSR to the SIM85. Outside of the USA we have no knowledge of these and there is a fair chance we would be giving you misguided information.@Rothsean - can I just confirm something. We have all been discussing how you code a replacement control module (SBSL, SBSR or SIM85) in a pre-facelift E85. However, you initially mentioned a 'STVR' and said it's a module within the door? As far as I know, the only item actually within the door is the airbag itself and replacing that doesn't need coding.
Before we give you the wrong info, can you clarify exactly what component you have replaced please?
Yes, the STVR is in the door. I’ll try to at attach a pic. It plugs into the airbag via a wire. The left door has the STVL.@Rothsean - can I just confirm something. Ok gotcha. Same as me. I’ll see if I can find a software person around here that can set me up.As I said, I can use it but I don't know much about setting it all up. You need someone who understands all the 'drivers', 'Daten files' etc that are just Swahili to me. Sorry.
