Studpid Mistake

Hola

I am upgrading my sound system and made a stupid mistake so any help would be more than welcome !!

I disconnected the GROUND of the battery and closed the boot :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Is there any other way to get the boot to open except connecting it to another battery please ?

Connect power to terminals in engine bay (12v) as you can unlock that and use blipper to unlock boot, then put something in the boot that won't fit to stop yourself doing it again

I don't get it sorry, the 12 is already connected, where do you get the ground from ?!!!!! that is my issue !

I was going to say use the key, but yours doesn't have a key lock like the E85 :headbang:
What Zoomer said, if you connect another battery via jump leads to the engine bay connections, it may work.
Can't believe BMW didn't put a pull release cable in for this type of incident

Edit
Just found this on Zpost

Leaving a regular battery inside the trunk doesn't seem like a good idea, batteries produce gases and some times leaks too.

As I understand that leaving the car closed is a big concern for you. Here's what I will do:

1. Close the car
2. Unplug the battery
3. Close the trunk.

When you get back:

1. Open the car with the key
2. Open the hood and plug your portable battery charger
3. Open the trunk using the button inside the car.
4. Plug the battery
5. Try to start the car

I'm not sure if the car will turn into transport mode, however you will probably have to take it to the dealer to erase the error codes produced by disconnecting the battery.

I think zommer means use a a different battery or a charger an connect it to the 12v an ground posts in the engine bay,

Oh Thanks zoomer, I am aware of this option but unfortunately haven't got a spare battery atm.

What about a friends car and use jump leads?
Would that not work the same way?
Bet you won't do that again :)

Unless you have extended storage and took out the centre storage to reach into the boot then there is no fix other than to hook it up to power.

That is correct , you connect a12v power supply to the jumping points under the bonnet then you can use you plipper or if there a remote release in the cabin that should work as well. I used a power pack ( battery and charger in one ) when I did it on a 3 series and it worked. Or as others have said get a friend neighbor to jump from their battery to the jumping points.

Hope that this helps

Sorted !! Had to jump it to my mates car :)

Just finished upgrading my sound system and sounds amazing :D

We need pics and a blow by blow on the audio auograde. Selfishly because I'm considering the same!

Damn I completely forgot to take some pics, Ill try to take some tomorrow as I just wired the whole thing but didn't put things back yet (trims).

My issue was how to get the power cables from the boot to the front and it is actually fairly easy, just time consuming as you have to take off the side panels.

I have decided to place my amp behind/under the passenger seat instead of the boot (easy to put it in the boot too, just not my choice as I like to fiddle with the AMP settings)

Pics and a write up complete with details of kit used please. That is an order...

Good you got this sorted, daft to design it without a manual option, but there you go. Enjoy your new sound system.
