Stuck Between a Rock & a Hard Place

Firstly, I would be concerned having a wife under 8.
Well....i had put the idea to bed for a while, as my brother was is no rush to sell..
My brother bought him self another car, and now needs to get rid of the Porsche..
Been thinking about issues and rebuilds \ costs..will look into warranty for the car, however every car has risks \ issues, granted the Porsche costs are allot more! does not mean every 997 out there will have a £30k + engine rebuild - chances of it happning to me are slim, as its my 2nd car..and knowing me, will end up selling in a year to get something different.. lol
So i "borrowed" the 911 last night and all i could say was wow...pulls in every grear, the chronos pasck with the sport \ suspension button is just awesome!
car does have some issues, and i will need to look into getting these fixed so working on the costs..
So now thinking how to sell the Alpina - as i may strip out the audio, sell the hard top - but to get the most for it, will need to go near summer time i guess..Need to get back as much as possible..
Some say Alpina's have gone up in price, and may go up more in another 5 - 10 years... but there have been 2 for sale for several months now...@ £16 and a 3rd popped up for £19k...no one is buying..and the bying market is very limited and only a person with s**t loads of money would buy the car..if i had £19k to spend i would look at putting in little more and get a 997.
will start a new thread, as need to gauge how much my cars worth etc...

Old Alpina: Loved the grey had 45K, but did not drive anywere as nice as the black one..with allot more millage..

Sorry I am a little late to the thread, I obviously missed it.
I was fortunate enough to own a 993 a few years ago (Should have kept it as the prices are stratospheric now
)
Fortunately that model did not suffer from any of the well documented RMS and engine issues of the 996 & 997 water cooled models and was a fabulous car, last of the hand built air cooled 911's.
On your position/dilemma I have just two things to say:-
1) The running costs can be horrendous, as can be the depreciation on these later models.
2) The driving experience, short of owning a Ferrari or Lambo etc is way ahead of the Z4 and every car nut/petrol head should own one at some time just for the experience.
Just go for it Mate! even only if its for a few months

Sam, quite the dilema you are faced with. As much as I love my Zed, I would opt for the 911. Fantastic machine, and quite the eye candy.SamUK said:
Question about the photos, did you take these yourself or were they done professionally? What were the particulars of the shot: lens, aperature setting, etc. I love the style and my wife does photos of our daughter at equestrian events and would truly like to replicate the style.

They are HDR (high dynamic range) which means you take three shots of the same picture, one normal, one under exposed and one over exposed. Then you combine them with software and the end result is that detail is brought out in the sky as well as darker areas of the picture. Alternatively, you just have a camera with an HDR setting...

It's only ever taken awful grainy pictures.
You won't get a decent picture out of a smartphone, I've found my wife's iphone to be grainy at the best of times, let alone when you ask it to do complex software alterations.
HDR was all the rage over 10 years ago when it first became viable for the amateur, it's only more recently that phones/cameras have included the function directly. To get the best result you'd still need to shoot the images separately and splice them afterwards on a computer. The basic premise is that in nearly every shot you can never get the optimum exposure for all areas of the picture so if you make the car bright enough to see the lines your sky lacks detail as it starts to burn out or vice versa. Bringing out all the detail with multiple optimum exposures has a profound effect on the end result, which most people like but can't put their finger on it. As per the original question...

It was a 15-30mm lens on Nikon camera and edited in Light room
Aperture 6.3..
