Stubby or not Stubby, that is the question?

I'm thinking about adding a Stubby Antenna to my Z. I don’t think the Z need's many, if any Mod's as it such an awesome looking motor... But is the Stubby a must have? :?

Also, can anyone recommend where to get one from that is guaranteed a perfect fit with perfect reception?

I'll save you the bother of awaiting responses Steve-EP; you'll find the following thread useful...

The people have spoken... previously!! style over performance seems to be the way forward when it comes to Z radio.

Cheers inkey$

Stubby is rubbish, long live the OEM!

With you on this one!!

I missed the last thread on this but if there has to be a visible aerial mast I'd rather have something that looks like it does a job rather than some half baked effort!!

What's the point :headbang: the original works well and looks fine, I hadn't even noticed it until I kept reading about stubbies.

BMW offer an official OEM stubby now, so they have obviously seen the light so to speak :D

At $33, not cheap though.

If you took this view you wouldn't do any mods as nothing on the Z4 doesn't work or looks wrong, well with the exception of 16" rims

it's been an amusing one, but the Whip clearly wins. :D

Think i should make a new set of wheels my styling priority! (currently have some embarrassing 16's  )

It was the first mod i did when i had my roadster and now the stubby has been passed on to the coupe, so stubby all the way for me

Never had any issues with reception on FM but a few have said that the reception on AM is a bit ropey.

OEM Stubby.
looks great,and ok performance

(tho my sig. picture shows the original "mast",as it was taken in 2007)

the Stubby stole the show on Style but the Whip clearly took it on performance.

i think this debate could go on as long as the the great 'chicken or egg', and the 'glass half full or half empty' debates!! :?

Exactly. It's a world of hurt, trust me. Go with what you feel is right - or do what I do - use both and swap once and a while*.

(*Yes, I'm a maverick)
