Well I bought my stubby aerial and fitted it to the car on Friday, looked great for such a cheap mod....

It lasted all of 48 hours before some nice person decided to steal it!!!

Back to the massive orginal aerial now..

Really frustrated but glad the car wasn't damaged!!

Never had any trouble with my last car (3 series coupe) soon as I buy the Zed have my alloy dust valves nicked & now my stubby!!!!!

Problems with on street parking n living near student halls! Never thought owning a car would make me want to move house!!!

I know that feeling mate :( I got my stubby stolen a couple of years ago, they didnt even take the little adaptor screw thing so it wouldnt have been much use to anyone. You would think the big original areal would be more of a target but never had any problems with that

Had mine stolen last year. Lasted a fair bit longer than yours, though! Its replacement is still here *touch wood*

People actually steal these things?
I've had my BMW wheel valve stem caps stolen once. Pissed me off. And my BMW roundels stolen before too.

I switched to 'locking' BMW stem caps and I saw that someone tried to steal those too and took keys or something and dented them.

Which stubbys have you guys used... did you find any aftermarket onces and have reception as good as OEM?

I had 3 stolen off my 1 series. What I do now is put a bit of loctite on the threads prior to screwing on.. Not had another one stolen since

But then isnt it difficult to remove them to check tyre pressure?

I had one of my thicker chrome style ones pinched (which came with my wheels)... must have been a kid for their bike - i think the next time i get my tyres changed i'll just opt for the flush fitting valves... so no need for dust caps to be pinched.

As for the stubby... i have my old s2k aerial on my car... not quite a stubby - but smaller then the stock one... and the reception is fine.

Had my carbon firbe bonnet badge taken last weekend from a car park in Bluewater
Her in door's thinks it may of just fallen off, yer right

IMO if you start gluing stuff on it makes it harder to steal but theyre going to do it anyway so why risk the damage?-also it shows the street market value of stubbies!!!

My Polo's aerial was stolen years ago  . Since the, I only put it on when I use the car.

Erm... I don't know about other people but I don't use my stubby for checking my tyre pressures ? :?

I was tempted to loctight or glue the stubby on but if someone wants its they will have it.. - I got one from eBay for £7 - reception was no different!!

Where I use to live the little kids use to steal my alloy valve caps constantly - I put them on with pliers and a spanner just to tease them and the sticky fingered little kids still managed to get them off!! After about 6 pairs being nicked - one set attempted while i was sat in the car I gave up and went to black caps..

Also spoke to my neighbour with a Zed - he had his badge nicked this weekend, as did the other BMW compact up the road - so I'm glad I lost a £7 stubby over my badge!

It really baffles me why people steal valve caps :? I had my carbon fiber badges stolen after they'd only been on a week. Some people really need to get a life.

some time you might only find that two valve caps are missing that's becouse the little thieving kid's
only have two wheels on there bikes to fit them on, the smarter kid's nick all four that's so they have a spare set once the first set gets nicked of there bikes from the kid's who havent worked out they were once on a BMW car :x
