Stubby for my Z4

Hi all.

When ordering a stubby is there one for the BMW Z4?

I have seen this one but it says BMW Cooper S. .... I cannot find one for the Z so I’m thinking the thread would be the same on this and no loss of radio signal?

Any thoughts / advice :D

It might fit - but I bought the Citroen/PSA one which fits great. Just a shame it doesn't work too well! :(

So I have gone back to a whippy! If you want to try the Citroen/PSA one pm me and I'll post it to you for free.

Thanks Mr Tidy for the offer.
I shall purchase the Mini Cooper s stubby and let you know how it goes. Will try a few different ones I think as I can always resell them on. Will come back to you :D

I have this one.
It fits nicely & looks good.

Not a fan of the whippy, but I have kept it so I can sell the car as stock.

Being honest, I dont listen to the radio, so cant comment on performance.

The whippy on mine was so tight fitting, I thought it wasnt removable!

I’ve got the Peugeot/Citroen one and its the best looking because it blends with the contours of the base. Don’t have DAB on my car but FM has been fine.

I got the 'Sport' one from BMW. It is £15-20 though.. I wanted BMW so was OK with that, up to you if your willing to pay that. From what I've seen difference in performance is negligible between the different ones (inc whippy) - However the fit is perfect and super simple to straight swap with the whippy. Part No is - B65.20.2.296.761 if I got that right.

Thanks for the reply buzyg......
Do you mean don’t buy that one or just don’t by any and keep with the original? :?
I meant keep the original whippy. :whip:

It's an on going forum divider this one. Perceived style over content.

I bought a genuine BMW one like this 3 years ago and its been great: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuine-Sports-Rod-Short-Phone-Radio-Aerial-Antenna-83mm-65202296761-/172797401262?hash=item283b8718ae

Has anyone tried a CB Radio style whippy aerial instead of going stubby?
I wonder what that would look like. I can imagine it would give much better reception and allow
several small holiday flags to be attached to the top. The camping club style pennants.

That made me laugh - my first car was a MK2 Cortina with one of those fibreglass whippys that would scrape the roof in multi-storey car parks if it wasn't in the gutter clip above the back door!

Anyone tried one on a Z4?
