Stubby Ariel...

It's your lucky day... I just traded my Z in and kept the stubby antenna. I was just about to post it as 'free to a good home' in the Buy and Sell forum.

PM me your shipping details and it's yours.

Spandex, see you're going for a 645 - what's the full lowdown on it? Was it a credit crunch bargain too good to be missed?

It was a credit crunch bargain.. £14k, although with higher than average mileage (I do about 5k miles a year so I can get away with it). I think the sweet spot for these has moved down to around £16k - £17k, as I've seen a few lower mileage examples around that price. It doesn't have that same 'point and squirt' feel you get in the Z4, but the power is just relentless and it feels really planted at speed. It's maybe a little less fun than the Z but it's so relaxing to drive I think I'm going to really enjoy owning it. I've only had it for an afternoon, but I really can't fault it. I'm afraid it does feel much more special than the Z.

I saw one of the mags in WHSmith is running a feature on the 6 this months and they really do look like a bargain right now.

I'n not totally convinced with the styling at the rear, but it exudes quality

Sounds awesome, as you know you can never have too much relentless power :D

I do believe that for cars such as this the bottom of the market has almost been reached, they can't keep going at their current rate, so you should do OK out of it.

Stick a few pics up when you get a chance cheers

Would love to see a write up of the 6 series.
I was pointing my dad in the direction of them but he's more keen on the Jag XK which does look a bit nicer but the 6 series seems like better value.

I hope you're right... To be honest, if it just depreciates at the same speed the Z was, I'll be happy. I'm not totally sure what the new model Z4 will do to the 2nd hand market, but I figured if I'm going to change it was probably best to do it before it was officially launched over here.

Not sure if it will do too much initially as I'm sure no-one will be buying the new one unfortunately, although I don't suppose that will stop BMW UK from registering hundreds as management then dumping them on the used market and killing the residual for anyone who has actually bought one.

I think the current Z4 has got to firm up a bit, the lower prices will bring a whole new level of buyer and values should hold up somewhat.
