Well as part of my Christmas gifts I bought a stubby and a set of LED Sidelights, for the car seen as the van got 4 new tyres!
The stubby went straight on, but Sidelights had to wait until this week due to constant rain!

**Apologies if the Pics are too large or mis-placed - 1st time uploading/posting via Photobucket!**

How it looked originally with a Jocky whip (crap) :)

Bought one of these: for £6.18

From a link in another thread ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221171901136 which turned out to be a citroen dealer near me!

Which then looked like this

Much more stylish me thinks:)

On Wed I decided the weather was ok to do the lights, but after faffing around cleaning the van for work on Thurs, it was a bit late to start really (ended up dark lol)

So after Ordering these for £5.20

Two of these arrived:

So promptly read Andy G's excellent How to: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26559 I set about taking the old orange lights out and replacing them with my new ones.

The old crappy ones:

The New Led ones:

Side by side just after I finished (notice how dark it now is) .... getting the cap back on in the dark with my left hand was tricky!!

Is the LED a Euro thing or something that came in later? My (US) 2003 Z4 uses the high beam for a DRL (Daytime Running Light).

we have sidelights which are small 5w bulbs over in Europe!

What are the sidelights for? Are they equivalent to the US "Daytime running lights"?

TBH, im not sure of the differences in the US version of the car so maybe one of the fellow forum members can help advise !?!

They look to serve the same function. I've got xenons which are used for low/high beam, and the inner-more light, which stock comes with a halogen bulb, functions as the DRL. I kind of like the idea of replacing this with an LED, I just don't know if they will be bright enough for daytime use?

Good looking stubby, by the way.

Do your lights have that little "mini-bulb" as well? I looked in my car and the location is there but the hole is not drilled in the reflector.

The UK "mini bulb" (only 5W) throws no light on the road whatsoever, and is ineffective as a DRL, so only really useful as night time "parking lights" IMHO. A candle would produce a similar amount of light, so don't start drilling yet! :)

Good upgrade to compliment the ones you already did are oem led conversion for the rear plate

Help please!

I've just done this upgrade & either I've done something wrong or it's a bit rubbish.

I don't think the light is bouncing off the back/side bits properly because its not really illuminating the hole light area. The bulbs are really obvious too.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers
