Stubby aerial problem

Usually the 'male' fitting is removed when the old ariel comes out. You'll need to remove one if them, probably best the one fitted to the ariel as it'll have a flat head screw incision. That then assumes that the thread on the already 'male' fitting is correct for the stubby.

The genuine bmw stubbies come with different 'male' fittings as the Z4 fitting is different to a 1 series for example. The Z4 is a fatter thread and you need to change the fitting depending on the model it's being fitted to.

The fitting on the Citroen aerial isn't for shifting even with pliers (no screw head on it) - I'll have another look at the one on the car tomorrow. Cheers for the info

The one in the base should come out. I would suggest spraying WD40 on it and leaving for 24 hours. Worse case will mean a new base which is about a tenner.

The exposer stud in the base will be seized. If you don't have the expertise or tools to carefully drill it out, buy a new base unit; as mentioned above, they are about 10 quid.

Just been to remove the aerial and it's all sorted - the stud came out with it this time.

Anyone with a Citroen stubby fitted know if they sit completely flush with the base? Mine has a couple of mm gap, which could be down to me mullering the thread trying to get it out last night! Looks great though :D

I've got a Peugeot stubby on mine and it's exactly the same - probably the same PSA part. I had thought about using some black silicone to fill the slight gap, but tbh it's barely noticeable.

Me too but it looks OK. I thought that the thread on the stubby was too long so I cut 3mm off it but its still the same

FYI - I'm told that the wing aerial only works for AM. The FM aerial is hidden behind the N/S rear bumper.

Therefore if you are into F1 and want to listen to Radio 5 Live then you're fecked :( - well, IMHO you are :headbang:
