Can anyone tell me how much clearance they have between there brace and the highest point of the engine as mine is starting to look very close as I bolt it down.

Sorry but I like the M badge on the front. I think the Z4M is probably one of the only true M Cars without the front badge from the factory!

E46 M3 doesn’t have badge on the front, can’t think of any ///M car of the same era with a badge on the front.

Are you saying all the M cars of that generation aren't true M cars? E36M3, E46M3, E9xM3, E39M5, E60M5, etc... don't have front badges.

Looking at your photo, have you got some packing washers underneath the brace as it looks proud of the turret and maybe sat on top of the camber pins.

And at least the modern 'not so true' M cars have small subtle grille badges :poke:

I have the M3 brace and made some holes underneath it where it seemed to touch the valvecover nut. And the fuel rail I think. I then added some washers too so it hasn’t fouled since.

No I don’t have any packing underneath it, is yours a genuine one for the Z4M which was an originally an option at time of purchase like mine? Or an after market one? or originally for a E46 M3 which would have originally been painted black?

And yes you must be correct I believe it’s the E30 which came fitted with the M3 front grill badge and not the E46.

I don't mind ///M badges per se, but I'd rather have less than more.

The earlier, narrow-grilled 3.6 e34 M5 had one badge at the front and one at the rear...

...which was my daily (and track car with lowered suspension and spare track wheels):

They started removing it when they realised it looked fine in the space between the lights and the grille, but looked stupid inside the grille, so the later 3.8 e34 M5 only had a single, rear ///M badge...

after market which I am trying to make fit

In all honesty, at least it is actually an M car.
I'm sure everyone has see at least one little 2.0i or similar with M badges plastered over it....

Yes I do think that the M badge is over used by BMW in today’s market but that’s another discussion!

mmm-five many thanks for the history of the M badge, nice to know and what a nice collection of five series BMs you have. Now I understand your username!
