Strong Glue for front number plate

Hi,

I recent;y got a private plate and I don't really fancy screwing the number plate as I like the flush look with out them. however for the front because there's a bit of the curve the sides aren't holding well and keep coming off the black plate holder. Is there a glue that can do the job?

TIA

I used no more nails adhesive tape on my wife's private plates. They are flat but have no budged at all - used the external version. Might be a bitch to get off in future...

Have you tried using a heat gun (on low) to form the number plate to the curve of the bumper, and so letting the adhesive tape work evenly?

Sticky fixer strip cut to size - use LOTS of it, particularly at the ends.
Isopropyl alcohol to clean both surfaces (plate and car).
Heat gun to warm up the adhesive surfaces before attaching plate to car.
Press and hold.

Worked for 3+ years on the Z4 and also now on the e90 which probably has even more of a curve on the front:

Same here - front and back....don't think anything will shift them in the future though.

I used the 3M tape from halfords and it is crap. number plate kept falling off.

I then went for velcro and worked a treat.

sikka flex will hold it on but probably it will never come off again! Ive seen a few people hold numberplates on well with copious amounts of velcro.

i would say tho from lots of experience of velco on cars dont rely on the crappy self adeshive stuff use a decent contact glue to hold it onto the the back of the plate and the numberplate holder

:o :o :o That and tiger seal will ensure it will never ever come off!

I use normal halfords numberplate tape! worked fine for years on cars.

I have no front plate on my car at the moment and i removed the bracket and got the holes filled when i got my M front.... But i have an MOT soon, so i plan to bend the plate with a heat gun and then stick it down.

I have the exact same problem with my front pressed plate.

I'm using double sided number plate sticky pads and the one side keeps popping off, the middle/right side is solid on however....

The solution:

I ordered 16 pads yesterday and plan to use the lot, I'm confident this will resolve the problem :-)

£1.99 on eBay.

OTHERWISE you could do what I have done for my rear plate and installed a number plate surround that the plate just fits into.

Only problem with plate surrounds on the front is the curve in the front bumper is too great for some surrounds. I'd bought a pair but ended up using one on the rear only - sold the other one to another forum member.

Thanks all!

No heat gun and I don't want to use something that will not come off. Think I might try the hafrauds stuff or order a similar thing on ebay.
