Strange Z4M crash...

He didn't even appear to be compensating until it was way too late

But I just don’t understand why he got understeer on that bend? The line into the bend wasn’t far off the racing line...
Right line, wrong entry speed, and then got his steering inputs way too late once he was in the gravel.

He entered the bend full chat as if he had no clue the gravel trap was there  either little experience of the track or car ( at track speeds )
Looked a complete novice ( amongst other things  )

Isnt that approach to that bend a dip and the crest of the hill mid bend ?

My bet was it unloaded, along with his daft entry and trying to flatten it out of the gravel after his super slow reactions..

He should have left it at home.

That is a big one.

Wonder if the owner is on here.

Well, he’s either going to keep a very low profile .. once he’s walked home

Or

He’s going to puff out his shoulders and say

Well, what happened was .....

Either way I really feel for him .. to have a “moment” of that magnitude then have it go viral on YouTube !

Oops. Hard to get it so wrong for so long. But he managed it, all the way to the bitter end.

its these kind of videos that seriously make me worry about taking my own z4 on the nurburgring... but there are plenty of people who do successfully complete laps, right?!?

Yep!

Done the nurburgring a few times, once even in the wet   , definitely something to experience while you still can. If I go back again it will probably just be in one of the brilliant ring taxis, or at least with insurance in place. Last time I was there a year ago I was very nearly taken out by a group of idiots in 911 GT3's (four of them) and two Nissan GTR's, driving in a train ridiculously close together at crazy speeds. I wasn't going slow at the time either, but it could have been very nasty, especially as I was in a 30yr old car with no airbags etc.

What a weird crash, it's like he still had the throttle floored in the gravel also. I didn't see any brake lights. Normally you brake before the corner comes and then hit gas when you exit the corner.... So strange that when he went out the race track he still didn't brake. You would almost think that there was something technical wrong with his car (stuck throttle?).

s**t driver simple. Clearly hadn’t learnt the car prior to putting on a track. Schoolboy error, bad times

So, from a completely random conversation with a guy I know, knows the driver of this car....the guy used to do track days with his late wife, and this was his last one in honour of her....after crashing the car apparently told the recovery people at the ring to keep it.

That RH corner exiting Brünnchen is very deceptive for those whom are not too familiar with The Ring. As you leave the straight part of Brünnchen, the track goes steeply uphill and it visually appears to have sufficient camber to take you around the bend, but it doesn't! As such, if you don't kill your speed and make a tight apex on the right before reapplying the throttle, the adverse camber as the track flattens will pull the car over towards the gravel on the left.

The driver of the Z4MC is entering the corner too fast and doesn't even attempt to apex that bend, and as such, gets pulled towards the gravel. I suspect the bouncing of the car travelling too fast made him press his feet to the floor to try to keep himself still in his seat, and in so doing, he still had his foot on the throttle.

A man with NOTHING to loose. He went for it, had a blast and i like to think looked to the heavens afterwards and said.... RIP wifey. Sad to loose the car but.... its crazy what loss does.... if he did leave the car with them, says it all... it just didn't matter in the end. Only she did. God bless him man... Very sad.

I was there on the same weekend and remember following this M out of the car park. Looked like a really tidy example, such a shame.

Looks like he just went in too fast, missed the apex by a big margin, and then didn’t manage to tidy it back up again. Expensive lesson.

Amazes me to no end guys driving there with no helmet. Lots of guys, better drivers than me ,have come unstuck on that track, that's just how it is on the day. Lots of those turns have jack s**t run off. If I went there, I'd probably rent something. If that story is true about his wife, then God bless her soul.
